MONKEYmark
why dont you save for the car you really want you may regret it.doing tt engine and manual conversion would cost way too much money. do a search and you will find it has come up loads of times
steve0
im not really bothered about the twin turbo at the moment its just the looks i really want the most as aerotop dave says do you want to do 145 or 180 im not that much of speed demon i just like some power now and again is the n\a easily tuned i just dont wnat to be left standing by saxos and lower spec cars ive got a celica beams at the moment which has 210bhp i just dont want to go to slower car thats why i wanting the performance figures on n\a cheers
JohnA
... which has 210bhp i just dont want to go to slower car thats why 220bhp on a bigger, heavier car --- how do you think it compares?
superstar dj
hey SteveO, there was a n/a for sale in the scottish auto trader last weekend why not go and drive it and see what you think then hit to a dealer give them the banter and test a tt ,then see what you think, bets the tt wins!!!! CardiffSupra
If u want a n/a then dont test drive a TT!
JohnA
If you're used to fast cars, even the TT feels a bit sluggish in stock form, especially the auto. I can only imagine what a n/a feels like (the horror, the horror....lol, only joking...)
Faye
If you're used to fast cars, even the TT feels a bit sluggish in stock form, especially the auto. I can only imagine what a n/a feels like (the horror, the horror....lol, only joking...) For fun driving I'd take the NA auto over the TT auto anyday. I find myself wafting around in the TT auto, whereas the NA just seems to be a bit more "playful".
JohnA
....playful it is then....
steve0
thanks for the info folks but i would still like to know the performance of the n\a thanks also there was one on ebay for sale last week an the guy said he tuned his to 250-280 bhp i think it was so is the n\a tunable then cheers
Faye
I think 280 is optimistic unless lots of money has been spent on mods. 230-240 seems about the standard for exhaust and decat. Obviously nitrous will bump the figures up as well. The 0-60 you quote is about right.
steve0
thanks faye the car ive got just now does just about that but anyone got an idea the 0-100 my celica does it in about 15-16 seconds private road of course officer the austraila website says u can bolt one turbo on anyone done that before thanks
steve0
heres the one i was talking about soz its 260 bhp really nice looking http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4565226310 there was another one but i cant seem to find it my history
Whitesupraboy2
and yes turbo has been done http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=45499 I think the NA is quite tuneable to degree....but to get higher power ull need to just put the NA-T kit on it
MichaelG
I enjoyed every minute of my N/A. Sadly i had a lot of problems with my TT but that could have been down to a bad example or bad luck. Some people dont see the point in buying an NA, but for someone who maybe cant afford the insurance of a TT / doesnt want turbos / or just wants some cheaper fun with the same looks, the NA is fabulous. My red N/A never missed a beat in the 11 months i had it, more reliable than my TT, my R33 GTR Skyline, and both of my Lancer Evos by a long way. And it got more looks too. Car in the ebay advert looks nice, just be sure to take someone with you who knows what to look for as there are a lot of folk out there who would sell u their mother if they could get away with a profit. Happy hunting and have fun when you get one. The NA is just as good fun.

lust2luv
Mine's an SZR (slightly lightened 5-speed manual derivative), weighs 1400kg (about 150kg lighter than a TT). Mods: aftermarket exhaust, double decat, HKS induction, Tein suspension. My best drag times were at Elvington, very grippy runway on brand new Eagle F1 GS-D3s, running optimax + millers. At Pod I've only managed 14.9, but have always found it slippery and had to launch at much lower revs. SZ autos seem to have much slower quarter mile times, probably due to their difficulty to launch. An aerotop will be a lot heavier than my car, so I wouldn't have thought you could beat your Celica's performance without spending thousands on mods (or adding nitrous). My car does 0-100 in around 17 seconds. HTH
JustGav
Nothing wrong whatsoever with the NA auto aerotops, mine was lovely... I however did the conversion and be prepared for a LOT of work if you do the conversion. If your heart is set on an NA, then go for it, I've got an NA 5spd which is my drift car and it is absolutely amazing, yeah, might not be as quick as the TT's, but at bovingdon I was having great fun even if I was losing a lot of the time *grin* Gav
