Uk speedo in a j spec car.

LOGIE

Recommended Posts

Right bare with me on this please ill try and explain as best as I can. Ive got uk clocks in my jspec car. When it had j spec clocks it had one of these speed limit converters which done a great job of making my speedo read in MPH and my odometer went up on MILES. I like the look of UK clocks so ok fit them and put all the original wiring behind the dash back to standard. Everything works and reads correctly and I can easily exceed 112mph so no limiter. However my odometer is now going up in KILOMETRES.

Is it possible to refit this but only to make it go up in MILES again without effecting the speedo?image

I re-soldered the resistor in the odometer as per the TRL instructions. Fiddly but worth it.

But then you have to consider calculation of correct mileage or keep a log of when you changed stuff - or get the mileage 'corrected' by someone that can do it.

It would be easier to let it clock up in KMs to be accurate unless you want to have a lot of faff :)

Im thinking about leaving it at kms like you said. Changing to uk clocks can effect the power steering? Anyone else heard about this?

Never had any issues after I put my UK clocks in - even the active spoiler operated at the right speed

Yep I noticed my active was deploying at 55/60 ish so im quite happy. I also have a manualised controller which I disconnected just to confirm. Can also exceed 112mph with ease.

Are all the plugs on the back of the dash the same?

I have some UK clocks to go in my jspec but not got around to fitting them yet, I am guessing the colour coding is different too.

They will fit straight in. Only facelift have different plugs
