Chris Bailey
Im on the lookout for some new rims for dads supra something with an aggressive offset.. We both like the XXR 531's in Platinum. Does anyone know if 8.5J fronts and 9.5J rears ET20 all round will clear uk brakes front and rear. Im aware the rears will need an arch roll and possibly a pull, but will they clear uk brakes without a spacer? Any help much appreciated
JamieP
They clear, the duck had them in that size and offset, and that had UK brakes.
Chris Bailey
I was hoping you'd come along did you have uk brakes all round then? Any chance you can remember the guy you ordered them from?
Gretie22
Just a thought but once they've repaired the rear quarter, will an arch pull still be an option? Just Ignore me if that's a stupid question.
JamieP
SRB power I think they was called, yes UK brakes all round.
baldy
i thought your dad was looking at wider wheels! i would go 9 and 10 with a 35 offset or 10.5 with a 40 offset 11.5 with a 50 offset

Maybe order a set of Advans? You asked me about mine enough lol
jimojameso
They do the 531's in a wider rear than that! Will need arch work though
JamieP
The 11" XXR are a 20 offset so won't fit unless lots of arch work. 9.5" is a bit skinny with your power. It's got to be CCW's
mattdavies
Could buy the Gewalts that Marc Dixon has for sale and then Rebuild the rears
Littler
You could look into image wheels?
JamieP
You could look into image wheels? They are expensive though, more money than the CCW's
mattdavies
Porsche Wheels with adapters, Porsche wheels have a high offset so a 20mm adapter will put them to what you need. OEM quality and come in 18x11 & 18x12
jcbt
At this moment in time I want to have the wheels look like they fill the arch with the bonus of fitting slightly wider rubber. Was thinking 18 inch and about 9j front and 10j rears with probably a 35 offset. Will that set up clear uk spec brakes. By the way I am also having the arches rolled whilst it's being repaired. So what do you guys think we should look at bearing in mind insurers will not be paying more than £1k for replacement set
mattdavies
I take it the wheels will have to be new ?? Rota Boost Drift : 18x10 et35 & 18x9 et30 Edited July 8, 2014 by mattdavies (see edit history)
baldy
clearing uk brakes will be depend on the wheel you go for. For example on a 9" 35 offset front advan rs-d you can get a 378mm disc and 8 pot brembo calliper no problem.

So a wheel with fairly flat spokes with little dish eg. Volk CE28 will have much more brake clearance compared to a deep dish wheel which positions the spokes much closer to the calipers. With a £1K budget I'd look for a good quality set of forged 2nd hand wheels, rather than buy cheap quality new wheels. Lighter stronger forged wheels should save quite a bit of unsprung weight which will make a noticeable difference in the handling of the car. 18x9" +35 & 18x10" +35 will fit almost flush with the wheel arches possibly without having to have them rolled (the design and size of the tyres may make it marginal). For reference if you look in my garage my car is fitted with 18x9" +32 245/40/18 & 18x10" +32 285/35/18. Chris Bailey
Quick question will 5x100/114 fit? what does it mean
Gretie22
Quick question will 5x100/114 fit? what does it mean Multi fit, will fit either 5x100 or 5x114
Al Massey
I'm guessing they are multi fit alloys? 100 and 114 is the PCD which distance of the studs, 5 is the amount. I'm pretty sure you need 114.
Gretie22
Yeah it's 114.3 but a 114 is a 114.3 they jut don't bother writing the .3 if that makes sense
sideexitsupra
I take it the wheels will have to be new ?? Rota Boost Drift : 18x10 et35 & 18x9 et30 These look like this! I had those sizes on my car, came off SteveLs race car. I was running 255 on the front and 285 on the rear with no spacers. Had rear arches rolled and could easily have taken a 295. Hope that helps? You can also try Paul Whif for XXR alloys iirc.
Chris Bailey
Got another dilemma, we've ordered XXR 531's in 8.5J and 9.5J with an ET35 offset all round. Some people are now telling me on these may not fit over UK brakes all round. Can anyone give me a definate answer?
Mk4Gaz
Should do mate, my wheels are the same widths and offsets, and they clear - but they are tight. I stuck a 3mm spacer on the front to give me peace of mind
