hi everyone,

have noticed that my exhaust is blowing slightly... its hard for me to explain where so ive used pictures instead :D

does anyone know where i can get these two different gaskets sourced?

Had no luck through google trying to find something to fit :/

red circle is the area containing the yellow circle, to which i need a gasket, and also a gasket for the blue one :)

also, how hard a job is this? im assuming just up on ramps + couple of bolts job done?

thanks guys!

Unless I'm missing something the Red and yellow pics are of oil residue from a weeping distributor oil seal and nothing to do with an exhaust blow?

The other actual exhaust joint looks non standard. Do you have a first cat in?

If you take all your plastic air intake stuff off, just a few 10mm bolts and then take of the silver manifold heat shield (careful here as the bolts/studs can shear) you'll see the cast manifold to y pipe section joints. The Y pipe should have a cat section after the two pipes join bit you may just have all pipework (ie a decat pipe)

hi, sorry am new to supras, and cars in general (mostly played with bikes), but i dont mean by the circle to have selected the sensor - the sensor is fine and its not leaking from there - but it is leaking from the gasket behind that sensor in the picture (below the sensor) which is the exhaust? i think one cat has been removed, so its just a de-cat pipe?

ill have to strip it one evening and take a closer look.

as for sourcing one of these gaskets and replacing it - how easy is it?

also, the distributor oil seal - where could i source one of these and again is it easy to change?

Nic that website looks like what im looking for.. where can i find that? or is it just a pdf of parts? :/

didnt think about a toyota dealer...

will try them in the future! however have found out that it isnt the gasket blowing - but a huge crack around 180 degrees of the 2 into 1 exhaust section where it bolts onto the exhaust oxygen sensor bit...

anyone know the best way to get these off? 14mm spanner has only been able to undo 1 of the 4 bolts! seriously tight in there.. have soaked it in WD40 in a hope that tomorrow itll free up a tad..

will keep you updated!

I would just add use a *VERY HIGH QUALITY* single hex wobble socket from the likes of Snap On, Facom or Stahlwille. If you round the damned things off an expensive socket will look dirt cheap. I have found them best undone when things are stone cold. They still catch me out from time to time, usually when someone is waiting for their car to get back home in, rarely when it's here for a week...

so, heres the bad news and the bad news

exhaust has cracked fully all the way around - looks like its been repaired previously too - and the cause: no fucking exhaust bracket to hold it up - meaning it was literally being held from its connection to the manifold and 1 hanger near the rear of the car...

and to make things worse the sensor in the 2 into 1 pipework had well and truely rusted itself stuck, or been bodge welded i cant tell but either way ended up having to cut the sensor and will later be soldering, heat shrinking and wrapping it all back together..

anyone got any pictures of what the exhaust bracket is supposed to look like? as you can see from my pics this is all that remains..

thanks

what would i do with the sensor if i bought this?

That is the cat temperature sensor, it brings up a warning on the dash if the cat collapses or is blocked, it has no effect on the performance of the car and can simply be removed.

thanks chris that bracket arrived swiftly! painted it up and put it on however it would not line up with the exhaust at all so ended up having to only use one of the bracket holes so its still pulling it away from the frame and hopefully will prevent it cracking again!

thanks :)

Even with the original Toyota catalytic converters the bracket to bellhousing and converter to exhaust mainifold bolts needed to be left loose and a certain amount of brute force used to align things. With aftermarket de cat pipes things usually get worse. So long as it's supported, that's the main thing. Cracked N/A first cats were very common, I have welded loads up.

ah good to know its a common issue atleast - shame the previous owner didnt even bother trying to replace it upon re-fitting though - inevitable that it would crack again with no support!

oh well!

thanks for your help chris!
