Kendo11
Replacing brake discs, got it all back together, caliper has just disintegrated where the bleed screw goes in. Not enough thread left to get another screw in there, is there anything I can do temporarily or is it simply not driveable until I get a new caliper??? bignum
Ah not good then, i was going to say if it was a back you could clamp both off and still use the car as the backs don`t really do alot, i may have a caliper though, i`ll look in the shed now dude. Guest Budz86
Might be an option to re tap and fit a bigger bleed nipple. Speak to DriftBear as he looked into this not that long ago and found a pretty nifty kit online to do it with
Kendo11
Thanks bignum. Budz thanks mate but I think the problem is that where it's disintegrated is too far down to retap it if that makes sense?
Swampy442
You ned a new caliper mate, as Si said, thats scrap.

dangerous brain
People do UK brake upgrades week in week out. Those callipers must go somewhere? I'm swapping mine out in a couple of weeks but I guess that's way too far off. You can get replacements from the place I picked up my offside uk spec calliper for £84 yes that's £84 plus vat for a factory re-manufactured calliper. http://brakeparts.co.uk/#page=parts&pageSection=BHF&mancode=TOYO&brand=TOYOTA&model=SUPRA&modelversion=SUPR*(93-01)+JZA80+-+3.0+NON+TURBO+IMPORT So in fact this one is £84 including VAT!!! Why even think about an unknown condition second hand calliper? Flabbergasts me!!

Because without a good condition one to send back and cover the surcharge that £84 unfortunately becomes nearer to the £100 mark, which is too much when I have just paid for a replacement one for a fifth of that. Chris Wilson
This is extremely common, for some reason people *ALWAYS* seem to over tighten wheel nuts and bleed nipples. Both are right when you probably feel they are nowhere near tight enough
Kendo11
I have a tendency to over tighten stuff. Must be more gentle. Question, on the right is my faulty one, on the left is the replacement. It looks completely different, will that create an imbalance between left and right?

Kendo11
Pistons etc are the same and it all lines up (bolt holes etc). Fitment looks the same it just looks like a different type
straightsix
The one on the left looks like a Lexus GS300/400 caliper
Kendo11
The one on the left looks like a Lexus GS300/400 caliper After a bit of Googling I'd be inclined to agree. Would this then create a problem for me? Will it actually fit?
