Yes it was wet after a longish period of dry weather and the way it lost grip it could of been oil as well

Roads are at the worst in those conditions. Anything oil based on the surface rises during the first rain after. I binned my Cavalier in similar conditions 20 years ago.

Yep, they are without a doubt the most greasiest after a long dry spell. :(

Really sad to see this (you took me out in it at blue water a couple months back)

+1 for Dave (supraloopey) his attention to detail is brilliant and he's priced fairly, his number is 07964 196866

He's located 30 secs from lidil on the London road in Hadleigh btw

Thanks again for everyone's best wishes and offers of help, it's much appreciated. Just an update insurer has been really helpful and have agreed a starting point value of 12k so have approx 8k to repair damage after deducting salvage value. Also they are replacing all 4wheels as we won't be able to replace the damaged one. Car is in transit to Baldy's who will be handling the repair and giving some much needed TLC. Chris will probably be putting a thread up later about rims and offsets as I have already requested an arch roll whilst it's there-I need more rubber on the rear.

As in roll the lip or with a pull aswell. If your having the arches sprayed then I would look at getting them pulled as this means you can get a little more Rim under your arches and are more likely to find off the shelf wheels that will fit under the arches
