Boxertricks
Hi Got a few questions regarding Supra UK spec brakes..; Am I right in saying that fronts are 323mm and rears are 324mm? 100% and not the other way round? Also what discs/pads do people recommend for daily use (BPU)? Thanks,

Dnk
Stock pads with stock discs work very well
Boxertricks
Thanks for the info lads. Looks like the seller has slightly measured them wrong, he claimed they were definitely 323mm but advertised them as rear discs, I've now got the width measurement and they're 15cm so they're definitely rears, will buy a set of stock discs and pads now though. Dnk
When you change them get some brake cleaner and give the area around the pistons and outer seals a good clean, Halfords sell brake cleaner in spray tins. Use a toothbrush around the seals and check them closely for holes or splits. It's best to do this with the pistons pushed out as far as possible but obviously without them coming out. If the seals look old and getting perished replace them as it will save you suffering the pistons seizing and a lot more work. Unless they have been properly refurbished ofcourse, if so ignore all of the above other than cleaning them And if you don't know if it's been changed in the last couple of years replace the brake fluid at the same time. hogmaw
I'm BPU too and the end I went for stock discs and Chris Wilson fast road pads, decent combination of value and performance. I don't see the point of spending 3x the price (or more) on holed/grooved discs unless you're doing track days or are aggressive in your braking habits, and the CW pads I have already have lasted several years and create minimal dust, lots of people say good things about them. Boxertricks
Cheers for the advice hogmaw, that's exactly my way of thinking regarding oem options, heard good things about CW pads too. DNK- I'll be replacing the seals, do you know the best place to buy a refurb kit from? EDIT just found a complete rebuild kit on ebay for under £30 so will refurb them before fitting. Is there a massive improvement over J spec front brakes? Edited July 3, 2014 by Boxertricks (see edit history)
Dnk
Try Chris Wilson on here for the seals, if you split the calipers like i did you'll need the seals that go between the two halves, you can't get them from Toyota but CW sells them along with st/st pistons etc The seals fit where the blue arrows are, the calipers are also handed, L and R is cast into both pieces Edited July 4, 2014 by Dnk (see edit history)
dangerous brain
Or just buy some new ones from Toyota through steve manley or factory refurbs that are available for the same money that people on here ask for donkeys years old second hand crap! http://brakeparts.co.uk/#page=basket&pageSection=BHF&mancode=TOYO&brand=TOYOTA&model=SUPRA&modelversion=SUPR*(93-02)+JZA80+-+3.0+TWIN+TURBO+COUPE that lot also do all of the refurb kits Edited July 3, 2014 by dangerous brain (see edit history)
