Fitting FMIC

What needs to be modified/removed in order to fit a FMIC? Its an N/A...atm :p

I already have the brackets for it, have yet to mock up the pipework. Does it bolt onto stock holes, or they need drilling/tapping? Any hole need to be made in the wing or chassis, anything moved out the way...etc.

Any help appreciated :)

When I fitted mine it was a case of removing the power steering cooler that sits in front of the radiators, Moving / slightly benind the aircon pipes on the passenger side. You will need to replace the power steering cooler. But apart from that it should bolt straight in ( depending on brackets ) Mine used the under tray bolt holes at the bottom and a hole already in the bumper bar

Hi bud,

This is how i did mine i hope this helps.

I started by removing the bumper and the plastic guard under the expansion water bottle (this also has to be removed and relocated). i decided to remove my air con as it wasnt working when i bought the car. I made brackets which mount on the intercooler to the holes in the lower brace (circled in red). DSC_034.jpg.

dfv.jpg.

Now the pipe work. I had to remove the stock air box. i couldnt work out any other way around. There is a plastic cover at the inner side of the wing (cirled in red). The pipeing should go through that and to the throttle body.sss.jpg

I have only gotten that far but the pipeing from the other side should go from the intercooler with a 'u' bend, past the radiator and straight to the turbo.cds.jpg.

I hope this helps bud:thumbs:

Chico.

No mine was a TT, I dont have any pictures but the core had a mounting tab centrally at the top and then two tabs that went diagonally back and down at the bottom and these lined up with the undertray mountings

Thanks dude :)

Ah that's perfect, needed someone with an N/A setup! Have you got any more pics at all? You should do a build thread :) Great help though. Did you have to cut the wing/plastic guards/arch trims or anything of the sort? I know the stock airbox will have to be removed, just trying to figure out routing the pipework, positioning and fixings for the FMIC...it will be the first time I ever attempt to install one, so want to do it right.

Also the pipework being routed through the inner wing, is that 3"?

I didnt know the N/A has a Power steering cooler? You learn something new everyday... lol. Will look into this, as soon as I start stripping stuff off. Matt or Ric - did you have to re-route any of the pipework for the cooler?

Yes I had to fit a new return pipe and managed to get the feed pipe to fit. 10mm Piping from Halfords did the trick ( 1m )

Hi bud the pipe work is 2.5" but i think the hole in the side should be big enough for 3". nothing needed to be cut when did it, just remove the cap and take the pipe work through there. For a Na bud the pipe work will have to be custom. Most kits are only for a TT. As I removed the Aircon I didn't have to relocate the ps cooler.

Sorry bud I haven't really got any other pics. I Will be doing a build thread soon! It was my first time fitting an intercooler as well. Have a search at some Na-t threads on here (Fosta's is a good one) that helped me with the intercooler route.
