Andrew Posted March 20, 2003 Share Posted March 20, 2003 What's the thickest Oil I can run on a Supra TT? Wanted to do an oil change yesterday, but they were out of Valvoline 5W/50. At the moment I'm running 0W/30, which most agree is too thin. Valvoline seems to be very hard to get hold of were I live, so was considering changing to another oil. My other question is the filter replacement, do get to it from above or below the engine bay? Looks like I can get to it from above if I move some stuff out the way, but it still looks very tight. suprarob Posted March 20, 2003 Share Posted March 20, 2003 If you undo the power stearing fluid tank (two bolts I think ) and twist it out of the way you can get to the oil filter from the top I found it imposible to get to the filter from underneath by just jacking the car up. MONKEYmark Posted March 20, 2003 Share Posted March 20, 2003 last time i got some valvolene oil i bought it off justin on torque ic just got back from toyota a bit ago and orderd a new oil filter think it was about £7 bought a load of bolts n gaskets too the power steering tip is good will have to remember that and save the pic in this thread for future use ps its 3 bolts on power steering tank Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sorry I disagree, try coming from behind the passenger wheel, and a good oportunity to check sub frame bolts. Some people have used Castrol Magnatec 10- 40. Thorin Posted March 21, 2003 Share Posted March 21, 2003 Loosen the filter slightly, then get plastic bag and place under and around the filter, then undo the filter fully and it will drop into the bag and not onto the floor and get oil everywhere.
