Andrew
What's the thickest Oil I can run on a Supra TT? Wanted to do an oil change yesterday, but they were out of Valvoline 5W/50. At the moment I'm running 0W/30, which most agree is too thin. Valvoline seems to be very hard to get hold of were I live, so was considering changing to another oil. My other question is the filter replacement, do get to it from above or below the engine bay? Looks like I can get to it from above if I move some stuff out the way, but it still looks very tight. The reason for running a thicker oil is in relation to my "smoking exhaust" thread.
B3any
Get it from underneath, took us 5 mins with a pit, longest part was putting the oil back in..
Andrew
Was hoping I could get to it from the top, don't have access to a pit
B3any
I dont think you can without removing lots of things, just jack it up and get on your back..... will be alot quicker as far as i'm aware.
suprarob
If you undo the power stearing fluid tank (two bolts I think ) and twist it out of the way you can get to the oil filter from the top I found it imposible to get to the filter from underneath by just jacking the car up. Andrew
Thanks, looks all so simple in the manual, bundles of room in this picture Suppose I could start digging a pit in my garage.

Sorry I disagree, try coming from behind the passenger wheel, and a good oportunity to check sub frame bolts. Some people have used Castrol Magnatec 10- 40. Guest Martin F
If you are struggling to find Valvoline, check your local Ford dealership. When i was last in there i noticed they sold a lot of it.
matt
I always get the filter from above. Just move the battery to the wing side of the tray and get ya arm in there ! Careful not to drop it on the way out...
Thorin
Loosen the filter slightly, then get plastic bag and place under and around the filter, then undo the filter fully and it will drop into the bag and not onto the floor and get oil everywhere. Andrew
Still no joy from the Valvoline supplier, think I'll switch to Castrol 10W - 40 as that's a thicker oil. Should have ordered from TorqueIC but want to change the oil this Saturday. Some good tips there, I especially like the plastic bag trick
