Chatter with stock twins

Hey,

Trying to recreate the infamous turbo flutter sound when letting off the throttle. I've read through the various 'BOV' posts from way back and this is what I thought is true :

- Sound is caused by air going back into the turbos and making contact with the vanes.

- It's called compressor stall (often confused with compressor surge)

This process is achieved by removing the BOV. If that's correct, my questions are :

- Removal of only the BOV? Or the entire recirculation/dump valve system?

- Is the actual squeal chatter achievable on stock twin turbos or only if running high mass single turbo?

OR

- Have I confused this process with an environment wastgate?

I managed to find a video of a Supra without BOV,

which sounds nothing like the effect found here using a TIal 50mm BOV

So as you can see I am confused - still learning about how to manipulate air flow with turbo setups.

Wow!!! You are going to be a legend with that as a first post. Welcome :-)

Not intentially, I discovered that when I lost the stock air box and put an large cone filter in the lower cold air duct under the headlight, I ended up with bov sound and chatter, I only have the stock re-circ valve, not an aftermarket. Hope that helps.

I believe the hks ssqv can sound like flutter by changing the insert

They do a gold one, I have a purple one on my car and it gives to normal sound.

But I believe the gold one is the flutter sound.
