tomsupra1
Hi Everyone. Im thinking of going for an engine change, rather than the planned NA-T. Can people help with a few questions please. 1) Can a W58 box take the power of a BPU GTE? 2) Who can find me an engine that will be good and for a reasonable price? 3) Who can fit this for me? 4) How much should I be looking at paying for the engine, fitting and a good service. Thanks in advance for your time.
Gaz6002
I can answer all of that in one hit: have a search. It's all been covered loads of times before

tomsupra1
First off why tt an N/A Unless you have heavy modded body and or an aero i would sell up and buy a TT I have had quite a lot of work done on the body, and the underside is completely mint. Would prefer to TT this one, due to knowing the car.
Chris Wilson
Bear in mind you will be buying a high mileage, elderly engine that probably needs a full refresh. The loom will be partly shot, and the turbos probably tired. Depends how lucky you feel, fitting used engines is filled with risk, and the labour is just the same or more for fitting an old one as fitting a fresh one. SupraP-Z
It can handle the power of a BPU TT engine, but it will be the same as Turboing an NA. Similar power levels, and the box can still go bang at any given time. There are a few engines up for sale in here, TT long block, VVTI head/shortblock etc. You are probably looking at around 2k-3k for the engine, plus another £500-£1000 labour on top, depending on whats involved, maybe even more. Chris is offering a service where the NA lump can be machined to accommodate the TT oil squirters, then you'd need TT pistons, and probably the oil galleries drilled (I think - not sure about this one) and a TT oil pump, and that would be coming close to a TT engine, if you got hold of some ancillaries here and there lol
Chris Wilson
TT pistons are lower compression and already have the hollow crowns to make the very best usage of the squirters.
tomsupra1
Cheers lads. Lots to think about. Maybe selling the car and looking for a decent TT6 might be the better way forward.
