Feels like fuel cut...

After being out in the car yesterday and hitting full boost all day long, I went out this afternoon and now I seem to have a problem.

On the motorway, pulled out from behind a coach on full boost, no problems. Got off the motorway, went round a roundabout onto a dual carriageway. Kicked it down, hit bang on 6000rpm and felt like I'd hit a brick wall. Red warning triangle lit up for a few seconds, normal service resumed. Thought "That's a bit odd" (my actual words will get me an infraction...) and tried again, this time looking at my boost controller. Exactly the same thing. I'm hitting 1.1bar @ 6k rpm but it feels just like fuel cut with a stock ECU.

I'm running full BPU, FMIC, Blitz DSBC and Blitz Access ECU.

Any ideas?

With the heat it maybe the stock ecu knock detection ? But I dont know just a wild guess, any faults logged?

Could also be a coil pack going also related to the hotter temps, maybe the supra forum boys may know more as we just dont get the hot days like they do

Well according to my boost controller Beibs, I have, once or twice, seen 1.4 bar. So I think it removes it completely.

Knock detection's a good shout. I am still on the 440's so I suppose it's a possibility. I'll take it out tomorrow and turn the boost down to .8 and see if it still cuts at 6k rpm. My O/D light's been flashing since I fitted the Blitz ECU, but SRD checked for codes and it was clear, so we put it down to the TRAC ECU not liking the Blitz.

I'll have a look and see if my diagnostic kit at work will plug in. I know I've got a Toyota DLC plug, it'll just be weather or not the ECU/Diag kit will talk to each other.

Just bean looking at other threads in regards to the stock knock detection , and it puts the triangle up and retardds timing from what i can find so this would not feel like boost/fuel cut . but still maybe worth a shout to the supra forum lot as i think the ambiant temp is a factor

if thats the case im thinking or leaning to coil pack fail, what makes me say this is that i had my car act very similar last year with a coil pack issue , was doing it so much i couldnt even drive on full boost i changed my coil packs and it went away and drove fine

Did you change the fuel pump and filter sock when you went bpu? since I did that I experience exactly as you describe when on quarter tank or less and have put it down to the pump pick up not being quite so low in the tank. I can run it low and it's fine, but if I boot it really hard with anything less than a good quarter tank it happens. AFR goes beserk, engine cuts just like fuel cut and am told I spit flames for a split second too.

I will pull the pump hanger out when I get a moment and take a look.

I had a problem with platinum plugs once, that caused a similar intermittent problem. They were brand new too, and £60 for 4!

I switched back to ngk cheap coppers, and all was well again. That was in my mr2, but it's just an idea dude

This sounds similar as to what is happening to me....

Import TT Auto, on kick down or if in 1st or 2nd gear, giving it a squirt it will sit about 5k rpm and there's a loud induction and turbo whine but no go.

When I lift off and replant my foot it seems to clear and turbo 2 kicks in and she's off.

Is this similar as to what you are experiencing?

This is your second turbo failing to come on. It is a common problem where the (can't remember name) gets stuck. Unfortunately, its turbos off to replace the part.

Hopefully Chris.

Gordy, mine was launching but literally lost all boost/power at 6000rpm. Red warning light popped up, went off and was normal until 6000rpm again. Pulled well until it hit that limit. Tonight it's fine again.
