Ric
Just be careful, if you have a modified car they wont replace like for like, simply the market value. Try a agreed value policy from likes of Sky insurance
Guest Dan B
My car is completely standard an I'm not going to modify it so there no need mate
DodgyRog
Make sure they are not quoting on a Mk3 or a UK Spec, unless you have a UK Spec obviously Quote engines have a habit of giving a general quote, when you phone the said company and check the info in the policy, it is not as expected/required Although, it is possible to get some decent insurance prices these days

kokoro
I've gone with Admiral this year. I queried every part of the policy with them, including make/model/engine/import/value etc etc, all was right. It is correct that they won't replace modifications like for like UNLESS they are factory fitted, so I had no problems (and saved a lot!). imi
Exactly - they will replace factory fitted options but not aftermarket modifications

kokoro
To be honest the mods I have are mainly cosmetic, so it was minimal (about £20 ish on top of what I was quoted). My big issue was the OEM body kit, but they will replace this on my policy as it's a factory mod. My wheels are non-standard but to be honest they're a bit naff (look better with a bit of plastidip). It suits my purpose for now and halved my bill. Edited July 9, 2014 by kokoro (see edit history)
