Low oil pressure

Just thought I'd chuck up a thread on this and see what people's opinions are. I'm getting a low oil pressure engine trip on the Syvecs, but it mainly seems to happen just after heavy braking. Engine feels as though it judders a touch then it trips, but it doesn't happen every time and I'm not able to make it happen at will. Also only seems to happen when the car is warm and if I switch the ignition off then restart the car the trip goes away and it's fine.

I keep checking the oil and level is fine; was changed 2/3 weeks ago too. It this a sign of a worn oil pump? Am I just being a div and not pushing the clutch in quick enough and causing a semi-stall (don't think it's this as the engine probably should have died before the low pressure trigger)? Could it be something silly like a worn aux belt? Under inflated tyres? Wrong paint colour? :D

Ok, those last few are are bit unlikely but got me stumped on this one! What do you think gents?

Yep, was set to cut the engine but I've changed the trip action.

Just to add, I keep a very close eye on the oil pressure and on cold start it's around 8 bar, give or take a bit. Once warm at idle it's between 1 - 2 bar. If it trips I watch it like a hawk for the next few minutes and it doesn't drop at all, it's just like it's a momentary drop in pressure for some reason!

Oh, it only happens when coming to a stop! Car can sit at idle all day and it's fine! Under load pressure is all good too, it's literally when coming to a stop which made me wonder if the pump is being starved briefly for some reason!

I had the same on mine mate. Ask Ryan to modify the safety setting on oil pressure.

Everytime I hit the brakes a bit harder with my Stoptech's, the Syvecs went into limp mode.

If I remember right, Ryan did set the oil pressure safety value to 1.75 bar. That means that under hard breaking and with warmed up engine, the oil is forced into the front part of the engine, pressure drops under the safety setting for a second and the Syvecs detects a possible problem and cuts the engine.

I had this on the motorway at 120+ mph :D

Cheers guys, I'll pull the IACV and give it a clean over the weekend. Will drop Ryan an email too unless you fancy having a look Lee? No rest for the wicked and all that! ;)

Keep meaning to pull the logs Chris, but haven't got round to it yet!

EDIT: when I think about it, it's not been doing in that long, started maybe a couple of months ago but is happening more often now. Possibly around the time I put new front disks on but surely that hasn't changed the braking that much!? Feels pretty much the same
