Guest Budz86
Mine hasn't had the padding since I bought it 3 years ago and I've never had any issues.
Bossco
8 years + there will be plenty with longer.
Marcus GTE
I've no idea if it does, but I'd check to see if it contains asbestos first before removing it. Should be a sign if there is but off the top of my head I can't remember.
DaveR
Yeah just get rid of it, it'll make no odds. Mine's been gone for 6 years...

Delboy52
It's the same stuff that you roll out in your loft. Mines been gone for years with no issues. Maybe the bonnet will get a bit warmer and that's all.
SupraD06
8+ years with it removed, no issue what so ever. Bin it.
mellonman
Mine made an extra 20bhp without it
Hassan
On a plus side you will hear the engine noise abit more. Ive removed it on 3 off my Aristos and 4 supras with out ever having any problems ever. If you are worried about heat issues or noise then you can replace it with Dynamat Extreme Hood liner.
Guigsy
It's not only sound proofing it's also a fire suppressor. If a fire starts the plastic lugs holding it in place melt and it drops onto the engine. Then when you open the bonnet wondering wtf is going on it doesn't turn your face into a funny looking pepperoni pizza.

I was thinking of removing mine to hear the engine more
Hassan
If the fire was that hot and big enough to melt clips. I will be the last person near the car and not wanting to open the bonnet to see if the fire proof/ sound proofing is doing its job.
MattP
Both my N/As had the stuff removed by me and all I found is that my windscreen washers didn't freeze in the winter anymore

Doesn't need to be a fire, enough heat can melt plastic clips
Josh
I got rid of mine as it was looking tatty. You can hear the turbos whistling more without it
Hassan
Doesn't need to be a fire, enough heat can melt plastic clips Well if the engine bay is getting that hot to melt plastic clips and for the sound proofing to fall or sag onto the engine then thank god i got rid off my mines. Its a hazard more than anything else then.
