Dave_harman1990
Hi people, driving down the road the otherday at about 3000rpm and the car bogged and died. Got it home and stripped it down to realise the crank sensor star pick up had come off the crank sprocket. i am in the process of getting this welded up but i wanted peoples opinions please. The crank position sensor looks fine, cleaned it up and wiped it over with some blue roll and i couldnt see any signs of scuffs or damage. Would people replace the crank sensor or just leave it? Many Thanks in advance Dave
Dave_harman1990
Ok after removing the crank sensor I realise it has a little dink in it. So guess it is in need of replacement. Bugger
Scooter
I think you can replace the sensor with everything back in place so might be worth carrying on and trying? Not saying you should or shouldn't replace the sensor just that you won't have to strip off the crank pulley etc etc to do it later and it might be fine? Chris Wilson
It'll either work or it won't. If paranoid you can scope the output and look at the waveform. Any decent garage with general diagnostic facilities can do this.

Bugger I had a dink on mine after suffering same issues, tested sensor using a scope while engine running and all was fine.
Dave_harman1990
Thanks for all the advice people. Fitted a new sensor from whifbitz and had the star pick up welded to the crank pulley to prevent it again. Runnig beautiful again
