Guest Jason1
Hi all I have sourced a mines ecu However this is from a 1999 aristo Will this fit my 1993 The ecu looks the same Any thoughts please as it is pricey and don't want to buy if it don't fit Many thanks
JamieP
Unlikely, the 1999 car will be VVTI.
Chris88
AFAIK the Mines ECu is set up for whichever car it is installed into and is therefore not suitable for transfer to another car without complete re-programming.
Al Massey
AFAIK the Mines ECu is set up for whichever car it is installed into and is therefore not suitable for transfer to another car without complete re-programming. Mines ecu's are made for specific car. They're plug and play, and can be transferred into different cars of the same make. Otherwise you would have to send your car to japan for mines to build an ecu for your car.
Chris Wilson
I don't know about Aristos, but a Supra VVTi ECU has a very different set of connector plugs to a none VVTi, so you couldn't even plug the wrong type in.
Guest Jason1
I realise that the ecu is mapped for a certain Car However I have used these before on a Subaru and ha no running problems as it was the same engine an ecu Hence just wondering I the supra was the same The ecu is exactly the same as the current one in my car 3 grey plug and has 2jz gt on the front I shall take another look at it to confirm If it came from a non vvti car then I thought the engines were the same and Si I could use it
Chris Wilson
I was going on what JamieP suggested and being from a 1999 model it would be expecting to see a VVTi engine on the other end of the loom. But I know little about Aristos save they drink fuel
garethr
I think the plugs are the same, i.e VVTi Aristo > VVTi Supra and non-VVTi Aristo > non-VVTi Supra. However, there are subtle differences, e.g one uses switched earth for aircon and the other uses switched live, so you need to incorporate a relay in the circuit (can't remember which is which, but the info is on Club Aristo). Moot point anyway, because, as already pointed out, a 1999 Aristo would be VVTi.
Guest Jason1
Many thanks for all the info I have also been searching the web and it seems as stated here that a non vvti ecu would fit my car. However the Ac as said wouldn't work without a relay, but everything else should be ok I have now emailed the seller for confirmation of what car it came from Am I also correct in saying that a manual ecu will not fit a auto but a auto will fit a manual? Thanks all
Guest FullAttack
Yeah manual ecu won't work on auto.. But auto will work on manual with joining 2 pins together.
Guest Jason1
Thanks for that I think I will leave this ecu as not sure on it and its in Japan The seller also isn't sure what car it came from so a lot of money on a gamble I will carry on looking for one. I am not after massive power just a useable car that has a little more oomph than standard So I think I will sell the avcr I have on and just wait on a mines turning up. Thanks for all the help
Guest FullAttack
You'll still want a boost controller even with a mines ecu.. That AVCR is pretty much the best boost controllers you can buy, will help to hold nice stable boost.. Although, I'm not a fan of piggyback stuff or generic 'chips'.. More of a standalone man myself, I think it's the best mod you can do.. Makes me laugh when people pay thousands on tuning parts and aero parts but won't spend the money of a decent ecu to make it all work properly..
