JamieP
I just saw this on FB Can't wait to see the new 1000+ HP setup (BW S375 with nitrous) on the russian AWD Supra and some more info and pictures of the AWD swap itself. It's already doing a 0-60mph in 2.75 seconds which is GTR territory (with the old setup which is "only" 800HP), and that's on an unprepped street and on regular street tires. For the people that are gonna ask, it's using an AWD from a Toyota Mark II with a lot of custom parts and a TH400 transmission. Lots of feelings will be hurt... bignum
Nice 1, is there any info on how they did it?
Josh42
Am I right in thinking the R34 GTR uses the same Getrag V160 as the supra, with the addition of a transfer box and different bellhousing? If so, could you not adapt the casing to take a JZ bell housing and run it that way? Obviously, I know it's not THAT simple. David P
What an amazing launch and what a Beastie of a Supra it has become.

Scott
I'm guessing this is a different one from the Russian one we had all seen previously? http://www.totalrace.ru/1fzsupra/IMG_1640-c.jpg At any rate, that's shifting off the line. At which point will the AWD be pointless? Surely there's a limit to how much power you can get to the 4 wheels before the front lifting makes it pointless? Although I guess there's always a point when running street tyres
JamieP
Go on Jamie, you know you want to I don't want to, Loving RWD at the min. I didn't think I'd say it, but I had a lot more fun drive a Supra on this years Dragonball, than I did driving a GTR on last years.

Agree all the way. had them all FWD, RWD, AWD in one form or another and all can be good in a good chassis and suspension and all are good in a specialist situation but RWD wins the road experience AND FUN hands down. That sound... is just too good I got to agree, amazing work to get the Supra AWD but personally some things are best left alone and RWD on a Supra is one of them. Also on the vmax screen it seems it is a mid 10 second car, I'd imagine top end is being sacrificed for the launch.

Guest h2jz
I remember seeing this on Youtube a few years ago. It definitely moves out and it's unique, but the Supra should stay RWD in my opinion.
dangerous brain
Its been done before a few years ago as well using the running gear from the 4wd Aristo Zi4. Problem is the box is made of chocolate and is auto isn't it?. Can you imagine what sort of following it would have if it could accommodate V160 power? Might even challenge the prices of the V160 due to rarity
