Iky
Garage did the work , I took them off and painted them but wanted to leave it to a mechanic to put them back on I had an issue recently, I painted my turbo pipes and water neck. I put a Thick layer of paint on, after a day or two I lifted up the bonnet just to have a fluid check and noticed pink splatter marks everywhere, turns out the bolts for the water neck were just hanging on by a few threads. I know I tightened these as I had double checked every nut and bolt. Every part I painted had loose nuts/bolts! I stripped it all off and masked the nut/bolt seats. Just saying, for me the paint softened and gave way. Something similar could have happened to you. Calipers can sometimes get pretty warm during spirited driving.
