A simple thing to do would be take the auxilary belt off and run the engine for a a few seconds

to rule out all the pulleys, i'd pop the cam pulley/spark plug cover off and check the tension on cam belt

too.

Do a compression test on it, then a leakdown test. Madness to strip it, external tests will isolate most issues. Pay for good diagnosis, will save you money long term.

Compression test was as follows. 1 180psi 2 180psi 3 170psi 4 160psi initially and then 180psi with a wet test 5 180psi 6 180psi. Couldnt do leakdown test as I broke the y piece on intake manifold.

Removed viscus fan, then belt and still the same. Cambelt is 100%. I did fail to mention that my car got hit on Tuesday night, 3 days prior to this. I was parked in an ASDA car park and according to the CCTV operator, the micra hit me so hard, my car moved quite a bit and they sped off. Luckily they managed to get the whole incident and reg on CCTV. This could've damaged the gearbox mount, I assume? My mechanic is still adament that it's misfiring. Took dizzy cap off, plugs out, checked leads and still the same problem. When he's getting the Y piece off keron tomorrow( Bless the guy for his great service) he will check the actual distributor and then go from there. Other than that, I might have to make the trip down to Shropshire, Chris.
