Pete
Just get a firm grip on it and twist. It may take some wiggling to get into the right position. If you can't get a firm grip then reposition yourself or use a tool which will make the job much easier. Once you've pulled it off remember to be careful not to spill the sticky stuff everywhere as it's a devil to clean up afterwards.

Pete
Dead easy from underneath. So long as your under tray bolts aren't rusted up. Apparently removing the wheel and pushing your hand somewhere through the wheel arch liner is a good method. I've yet to try it myself.
