Bayden_uk
Seriously! How so? Haha What do I do with the paper clip? Edited May 18, 2014 by Bayden_uk (see edit history)
Mk4Gaz
With the ignition off, flip the cover open on the diagnostic port. Use the paperclip or a piece of wire to bridge terminals e1 and te1. Then turn the ignition on two clicks, and watch the engine management light on the clocks. If it flashes continuously there are no codes stored, if there are any faults, the flashes will dictate a fault number 5 flashes, pause, 2 flashes, would indicate code 52 - knock sensor. As an example. Do the test, and post up your findings, although instructions and a list of codes can be found on here or Google

Bayden_uk
Checking the chart, but would any of the problems in the list cause a poor idle? Was almost like she wanted to stall. Sometimes she vibrates rough when I'm at the lights
Mk4Gaz
42 is speed sensor circuit I think. I wouldn't have thought that would cause a rough idle. Checked for dampness in the plug wells, and ignitor/coil area? What is your idle speed when warm?
