jazz1
What's the deal with these I do not really like the look of them is there another options? Or are they a must for high horse freaks?
Ric
Aero catches are only on aftermarket bonnets which don't close/lock properly? Can't say there's much point adding aero catches to a standard bonnet.
mwilkinson
My car has a genuine TRD bonnet. No aero catches here, just stock ones.

Can't say there's much point adding aero catches to a standard bonnet. Not 100% true. My Veilside bonnet fitted and locked fine. I only fitted aero catches as it is pretty light and could see it flexing when getting up to decent speeds. I was worried it would fly up whilst driving. They work great though. add heywood
I never ran catches on the Varis bonnet, would have been a crime to start cutting a bonnet that cost £1k lol. You don't need them unless you get a cheap bonnet with no reinforcement around the lock.
Dnk
Stock bonnet wins hands down for me, most others i've seen in the flesh don't fit very well and are poorly made It makes no difference whether its on an NA or 800 hp single Edited May 16, 2014 by Dnk (see edit history)
safcdixon
I have aeros on my stock jspec bonnet, cant be too safe imo
jazz1
We'll I'm staying stock bonnet as that's what I prefer so I should be safe?
Dnk
Lubricate the stock catches and you'll be fine, being single turbo makes no difference
jazz1
Perfect I hate the look of them and thought they were required .
peter richards
my bonnet is playing up atm on the drivers side , given it tones of lube dunk but cant get it to catch , looks down then first bump and it pops
Dnk
Perhaps it needs to be replaced if it wont stay locked
jim
You tried adjusting the rubber stopper at the front Peter? It may have been raised accidentally?
Dnk
They need to push against the bonnet rubbers stoppers as far as i'm aware to create a little tension against the catch, not loads though.
Kaan W
I've got them purely as a safety feature, a what if, a just in case etc etc. Can't be too careful.

Changed a set last weekend on a members car. I also know of another member who is doing his too. We got a spare set on a trip to Keron's gaff.
