Gretie22
Right, starter has been on its way out for quite a while now, got the solenoid kit to fix it, so going to get my partner and dad under the car next time it's a nice weekend In advance to save stress on the day, what tools will we need? If anyone has a link to a guide that would be fab. I have searched it, but having trouble finding anything on my phone.
Timlowthian
I used this guide on the forum: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?51682-How-To-Overhaul-starter-motor-contacts All went fine and I just printed the PDF version and had it at hand. mwilkinson
If you wait till a little later I can post 18 pictures relating to the dismantling and rebuilding of a starter motor. I was going to add this to my previous engine build thread but never got round to it.

KamaSupra
You don't need your partner or dad to fix it for you, I've seen you. You're pretty good under the hood...

No, car would probably fall on me and squash my head
Scott
It's an absolute bitch to get the starter out, I had an absolute nightmare with it. 1 nut that holds the +ive cable on, 1 clip and 2 bolts to remove. You need about 3ft of socket extensions to get the bolts off, not so bad, but then you need triple jointed hands to get the thing out. I had to end up taking off the intake to get it out
Kirk
Easier to remove on auto's than manual TT's. Much more space.
mwilkinson
Right here are the photographs. No text I'm afraid but hopefully they might be of use to yourself or others.
