Not me but a mate at work. He said he got 2 letters, one from Dreamworks and then one from his ISP saying that he has been caught downloading 2 films and must stop this instance. He also had to fill out some form too for Dreamworks. In case your intrested he aquired them from "Mininova" and "Isohunt", so downloaders BEWARE :hide

He does download quite a bit but he reckons that he may have been the last person to have used the 2 files and so got caught. It was just a slap on the wrists and a telling off.

yep apart from thats his one chance gone now!! To even attempt to download again he will have to change ISP and not download any dreamworks stuff

A friend of mine at wokr got this type of thing, he was downloading School of Rock. It seems that the movie company had actually released it with some sort of link, that as soon as you then watched the film, it fed back through their ISP telling them that you had downloaded it. He had to sign paperwork, and had to allow for his ISPto monitor all of his downloads for 6 months afterwards.

Its called a honeypot and they are swines for doing it.

If i were to download such things, which obviously i dont as it illegal, i would use something to stop IP tracking such as Protowall and Blocklist Manager :eyebrows:

And if that wasnt enough perhaps "Borrow" an IP address of another DHCP server.

what is dreamworks stuff?

i do lots of d/l

i had a warning years ago with a company called andrews and arnold they a isp. they capped my adsl to 3.5k during the daytime. saying i was using too much bandwidth.on ntl i not had any problems with downloading limits. yet they upgrading everyone to 10meg connections. will be unreal speed wise from a 2 meg conection.

but if they have technology for 10meg lines what do they think you will be doing but downloading.2 meg line is great and fast.

downloading video content is what will eat up bandwidth. its all come on a long way from 9600 modems lol

I think they are rolling out 10Mb across the board, hopeing to get some sort of pilot deal with the BBC in few years time towards broadband TV.

Well thats what i think

you would imagine some sort of video action going on. was reading in computer shopper about they setting up a site where you can download videos and pay for them like the mp3 music tracks you can get now.

if they want to stop piracy they only have to crack down on car boot sales the amount of stuff you can get down there is unreal. should crack down on the council who run the big car boot sales and give them a big fine if they allow it to go on.

is 10meg line about as fast as you can go over here or is there faster connections.

10meg is fast as you can go over here. Without getting into big business. I.e Satelite communication.

now look on right hand side of page below and then you realise how far behind we are and how overpriced.... You'll notice thats including telephone unlimited if i read it correctly

At end of day 10meg.....thats the speed at which networks run at about 8yrs ago!!!

I had a take down notice last year forwarded to me by my ISP from a film company. I just replied saying that I would look into it and remove any 'suspect' files... Dont personally admit to anything but tell them you would resolve the problem, and they will leave it there.
