bayside_supra
Imitation game is well worth watching, really interesting. Have not seen theory of everything yet but looks equally as good.
Scott
Watched The Gambler tonight. This is a really tricky film to judge to be honest. I can see how it would appeal to some and really disappoint others. I was on the fence. At the beginning of the flick I was really disappointed, Mark Wahlberg does his usual style of acting which doesn't really suit the character IMO.... but it's OK. The beginning relied a lot on him and his manner, it just didn't do a lot for me at all. In the middle, things started to develop.... but again, for me, it didn't set the world on fire. The latter part of the movie started to pick up a little, taking Wahlberg's performance out of the equation saw a lot of the characters really shine, again he was OK though. I need to take a separate paragraph to mention the highlight of this entire movie. John Goodman absolutely SMASHES this film. If he isn't nominated for his part in this flick then it's completely the movie/producer/directors fault. He is absolutely astounding. I immediately took to IMDB to mention this as, stand out performance in the film and he is barely in it. I would recommend anyone to see this film, you may love it... you may hate it... but simply the performance of John Goodman in this is worth the 2 hour flick. A complete master class in character acting.
Scott
Just started "We still kill the old way". I'm about 3 minutes into this film and I am already filled with rage at the acts of the main antagonist. I'm expecting this little scrote to get exactly what's coming to him. Great hook for a film Edit: Every cliche in the book is used in this flick. Awful direction, awful production, awful casting and awful script. I've no doubt missed out a lot of other awful areas of this movie. I liked the idea of the story though, as terrible as the execution was, the idea was good. It's difficult to take the movie seriously, whether that is deliberate or not I have no idea, it's not your typical clever Brit flick though. Abz
Watched The Judge after seeing comments on this thread. Don't think I would have seen it otherwise. Was a great film, enjoyed watching that... Got me a little emotional as the relationship between me and my father is like that. Some funny moments and as usual Robert Downey Jnr plays the role brilliantly!

jamesmark
Just finished watching American Sniper. What a film, from start to finish. One of Bradley Cooper finest outings and as usual another brilliant film from Clint Eastwood. wow is all I can say.

creative
Watched a few films this last week. American Sniper = A very good film. I wasnt sure what to expect but very well executed. Big Hero 6 = Im a big kid at heart and loved it! Birdman = what an absolute dire film! In fact I lasted an hour and turned it off. I have no idea why everyone is raving about it and soooo glad I didnt go to the cinema to watch it. personally I would rank it right up there as one of the worst films I have ever tried to watch. Anoying camera, poor script, a play about a play (yawn) god awful soundtrack that overpowered the actors speaking.... avoid avoid avoid! Predestination = Good film, kept me watching until the end when everything dropped into place.... but I did guess it half way through. Al Massey
Not a film but has anyone else watched or started to watch Ascension? It's about a space ship that left earth in the 60's with a substantial amount of people on board to populate a new planet, that takes them 100 years to get too. But there is a huge twist and not all is as it seems. Watched the first 2 hours last night, another 4 to go and I'm hooked. Very entertaining and very different

I'm a massive dracula fan though, I'll watch anything vampirey I guess it done it's job as one of the first things I said to my team this morning was not to watch it. Utterly drab etc. At least it got me talking about it.

Get it out of your system by watching a proper vampire film, like Interview with the Vampire or Bramley Stokers Dracula
jamesmark
Get it out of your system by watching a proper vampire film, like Interview with the Vampire or Bramley Stokers Dracula Now those are brilliant movies. Really like them. I guess with this one I was looking forward to the different take on it all. But fook me they failed big style imho. My lass loves horror genre and films like this and even she switched off.
Alex
I saw Birdman last night and thought it was really well done. I guess it could easily be a movie that doesn't appeal. I enjoyed it for its break from the Hollywood norm. Keaton was really good. They have enough moments of "Ahhh I see" to keep me interested. There's a 1/2 second flash of an image at the start (a bit fight club esq) which doesn't get explained till the end...
ellis
Watched The Judge last night - as mentioned previously, well worth the watch. Good performances all round. Also watched FURY as well - great film too - gritty, edge of the seat in places, WWII film. Some great performances in this as well.

Scott
Watched Wild Card last night. It's one of those films where you kind of know what to expect (Statham... so think Transporter type action flick). The most disappointing thing is that this film never really got going, eventually it felt like it was getting somewhere and then the film ended. There was no real build up and definitely no climax to the film. When the credits rolled I was left with a "is that it" thought. The action is reasonable, the plot is thin but acceptable... it just doesn't work though. 4/10 for me.
kokoro
We recently watched Dallas Buyers Club. I wasn't sure what to expect from it, but it was really enjoyable. I felt invested with the characters, and even though the end was sort of expected, it was captivating right to the credits. Another solid performance by McConaughey, and an absolute stellar performance by Jared Leto. We didn't even realise it was him! Not a light hearted affair, but gritty and real. Also, may just be me, but McConaughey reminded me of Trevor from GTA V in the early scenes...
jamesmark
I started to watch Locke, words cannot describe how boring this film is. I switched it off after an hour and found out after it the whole film is set in Locke's car. I am a Tom Hardy fan but fook me, he cannot be that hard up he had to make a film that bad and lame.
