Mini Movie Review

Just watched Guardians of the Galaxy. Fairly predictable, although I expected to see more of Thanos. Thoroughly entertaining though. Casting was just right IMO. Best of all is the soundtrack :D

If you're into this sort of movie then it's a must see. Almost wish I had seen it at the cinema now :)

I thought it was brilliant and one of the best films marvel has made tbh. Also agree how good the soundtrack is!

Dying of the Light. Avoid at all costs. Nicholas Cage doing what he does... erm... badly. I found this entire film really disjointed, not at all enjoyable or enthralling. Most of it made absolutely no sense for me, extremely lazy writing.

Anyone watched the Equalizer? I quite fancy it but feel like I've been waiting ages on it coming to Bluray.

Yeah , really enjoyed Equalizer. Quite Taken/Bourne-esk in his protectiveness of certain people. Some clever parts and gadgets used, worth a watch. :)

Hurtling towards 30k, you know it gets reset to 0. :p

Fair enough. Have you seen End of Watch? Great film, one of the best I've seen in the last few years.

Also, how are you getting on with The Sopranos? My favorite series of all time, still unsurpassed to this day.

I didn't mean the film, really looking forward to the Equalizer. I was referring to post counting :D

Not seen End of Watch. May give that a go tonight. I'm not a huge fan of Jake Gyllenhaal though, his names too weird.

I'm still on S2 of the Sopranos. I'm enjoying it but it hasn't blown me away so I'm just plodding through it really. I'm on season 2 of Banshee too, really enjoyed that but it's also getting a bit repetetive now.

I think we're spoiled for too much choice nowadays. If something doesn't absolutely blow my socks off right away I tend to dwindle away from it. I did the same with SOA, I've still not finished season 6 and don't really plan to. Same with Dexter, although that seems to be for the best. I get part way through most things and I just lose interest, with so many viable options there to take their place they really have to be good to keep my attention. One badly written episode can put me off an entire show :D

Thoroughly enjoyed that mate. A very refreshing view on Police in general, showing the human side as well as the common sense approach. I don't really think the direction of the ending was necessary to make it a great film, but it seems to be the direction this type of movie always goes in. Regardless, highly recommend it.

Oh, stand out performances by the 2 main actors. Well scripted and well written. Surprised it flew under the radar for so long :)

Just watched The Equalizer. Great film, very far fetched just how I like my shoot em up's.

40 mins left :)

Edit:

Really enjoyed that. As you say, really far fetched but you have to allow for it. Washington was brilliant with the role. The ending wasn't what I expected.....

*****SPOILERS*****

I assumed that after wreaking such havoc that he wouldn't be able to return to his old life. Surely questions must have been asked? Legendary stories among the work colleagues certainly would have lol.

I liked that it ended like that though.

Watched Hercules last night, pretty much as I expected with something called Hercules starring The Rock - decent turn your brain off action flick.

Must admit, I don't see where all the criticism came from in that flick. I actually really enjoyed it. I thought it was brilliant to take the mystical element out of it and base the whole thing on legend. The twist in the story, compared to the previous versions, was enough to get my attention and the well timed slapstick humour was enough to keep me smiling most of the way through.

The Rock on screen does what he does, I don't think there would have been any surprises in that regard prior to viewing.

Yeah I liked the idea of the mythology being how it was too, new take on it.

He's a decent actor to be fair, obviously has the presence but he's pretty charismatic too.

Totally agree, although I would only use decent when comparing him to other non-actors lol. He is really charismatic though, comes across as a really nice guy IRL too. I always loved Walking Tall, which this conversation has reminded me of. Really good revenge/justice movie based on some true events. Recommend it highly.

Watching the street fighter mini-series thing now, although it's the uncut blu-ray version. Acting is as you would expect but I'm really enjoying everything else about it. Leading up to being a really enjoyable watch. You need to be a streetfighter/manga/kung-fu fan though. It's series cheesy, but if you can forgive that you'll really enjoy it.
