Scott
Yeah I remember that being fairly decent, certainly not great but pretty good. I've got a lot of time for jt He's no Oscar winner but for an entertainer/performer he turns his hand well to the big screen. Loads of respect for his performances in the movies I have seen him in, even when I haven't enjoyed the actual movie.
Al Massey
I loved "In Time" I thought the idea was great, very different but not far from the truth in retrospect not the actual not ageing side lol Very well executed. Would of liked a little more explanation on how we evolved to that state but I guess it was a premise for money. Good acting and good overall film

Would of liked a little more explanation on how we evolved to that state but I guess it was a premise for money. Good acting and good overall film That's actually something that bothers me with film critics nowadays. For some reason, the general consensus is that movies need to relate to present day or have a direct connection between now and the intrinsic part of the plot. There needs to be no direct correlation between real life and fiction, that's the whole meaning of the word. If a movie plot doesn't have any possibility of a direct relationship with current affairs then it's scoffed at for being unrealistic. Movies are stories, there is no need for any direct relation between current evolution and fantasy, thinking it's required is just plain wrong. I honestly believe that's why the 80s were so popular. The mix of classic science fiction and fantasy movies during that decade are just unparalleled for me. People didn't question a computer making a girl from code or a galaxy far far away where everyone spoke English (ok, late 70s... that's where it all started lol). Needing to be realistic to attain credibility is directly opposite to what the big screen used to be about.

Oh I don't care if movies don't relate to present day, and I'm a huge sci fi fan, I love sci fi, and the more far fetched the better. I love a majority of different films, but I see plots and similarities in many films to current climates. Like in time, it's so unrealistic at the moment, but the only similarities I saw was the correlation between time and money. Which I thought was great. They made a film where time is a commodity, when in current climate it's money. Money = power, the more you have the less important it is, and they portrayed that very well with time. I think it's easier for viewers to relate to certain aspects of the film. Draw a connection to the characters and see a different side. kokoro
Willow Creek tonight. Was a typical found footage flick (fairly short), but I really enjoyed this. I thought the acting was great and the long tent sequence pretty terrifying how it builds tension. I'm fairly sure this film will have its haters (Blair Witch rip off blah blah), but I don't care. It didn't have the usual stereotypes, neither of the main characters were annoying and it left lots of loose ends. And yes, I do like some weird movies

I'm actually really loving this thread as there's a lot of films mentioned that would have flown under my radar.

Scott
No one said better but it is about bigfoot so that has to give it a few kudos points! If it's not better than the Blair Witch then it must be awful Just finished the new Dracula flick. I really enjoyed it. It's not perfect but it's a very good twist on the usual plot that's put forward. It's a shame they had to go down the whole emotional route in certain parts of the film, without the cheesy Hollywood norms it would have been quite exceptional. Can't have it all though Brief plot: Vlad the Impaler, absolute killing machine of a warrior, hangs up his armour to live a peaceful life with his family while being prince of a kingdom. He pays his fees to the Turkish to keep the peace and all is well. One day, the Turkish want to show their power by enslaving all the kids. This doesn't bode well and, after negotiations fail, Vlad needs to find a way to take down an entire army. There's only one being he's encountered with that sort of power so it's time to make a deal. Ironically he does what any family man would do, and it actually works out.... for a bit. Decent effects, reasonable acting, good plot although a little cheesy, very enjoyable movie. Gets a very reasonable 7/10 for me

Kendo11
Was meant to see Interstellar today but didn't get the time. Hoping to see it on Tuesday, can't wait. Have avoided as many reviews as possible
Kendo11
Watched Aftermath (currently on sky) earlier, "starring" Edward Furlong of terminator 2 fame and still clearly off his face on whatever it is he's currently on. Avoid. Post apocalyptic films are just about my favourite genre, in fact that goes for books and games too, but this was very very poor. Bad acting, thin plot holes, no where near as much tension as it thinks it creates. Poor poor poor.
Scott
Lucy is my movie of tonight. I have an immediate dislike to this movie before it begins due to the premise of us only using 10% of our brain. I'll endeavour to put this to the back of my mind when viewing though. It's got Morgan Freeman in it, so I'm sure it'll be brilliant

JasonR24
Went to see nightcrawler Friday night and it was brilliant, definitely worth a watch! Great acting and great story, as I've noticed with almost every new film I've seen in the last 6 months the ending wasn't brilliant but it think that's just becoming standard practise now! Going to see interstellar on thrusday, Can't wait, looks brilliant!
neilp9876
I saw interstellar last Friday, I thought it was a really good, well put together movie. A bit long but enjoyable. Hasn't seen any reviews before hand and didn't know the story, I think that helped a lot, don't read the plot first!
Al Massey
Went to see Fury last night. Took my dad as he's an ex tank soldier like me. I thought we'd be picking holes in the film like we normally do to military films. Plus my grandad was on Sherman tanks in WW2. But no, was a brilliant film. The script, actors, props and even the Sherman tank. It was all spot on. The film is that good I can't stop thinking about it. Portrayed it very well. Easily one of the best war films ever, if not THE best film. Would highly recommend this.

I do know the cast and crew spent some time down at Bovington Dorset, at the tank museum to gain experience of the time and drive some tanks.
