Dave_harman1990
Hi people, really confused on this one, doing my timing belt and decided to change my 21year old water pump while I was at it. I got a blue print replacement which I was told is as good as oem, the bolts that hold it to the car are the right layout, but there is a hole on the top of the oem, which is at a 45 degrees angle on the blueprint where a hardpipe appears to go in, also on the blueprint on the underside there is what looks like a vacuum pipe nipple, which I could not find on the oem. Can someone tell me if im being an idiot or if this is the wrong part, ive looked and the blue print part number is correct for the twin turbo water pump 93 - 96 model :s Thanks in advance
Josh42
It's perfectly normal. my OEM one has it. I believe it's an overflow valve of some description
Dave_harman1990
How about the hole thats sitting at a 45 degree angle instead of flat on top? It looked like a hard pipe that goes into it so it won't be able to bend to fit on the side would it?
Dave_harman1990
this is how it should be by the blue print one isnt
Swampy442
The pipe on the bottom is a dry drain, basically if coolant comes out of there, its toast. You should have just got one from Toyota but, the rear housing unbolts, just unbolt the pump from the housing, do the same on the car, sorted. Dave_harman1990
I was debating that as an option, the important part would be changed so I didnt think/hope it would be an issue. Thanks for the advice people
