Stereo wiring loom.

Hi,

I'm tidying up the wiring behind the dash and have given up with the mess that's just an accident waiting to happen. I've pulled the loom out from the stereo that then goes down to the passenger side footwell and under the seat into what I believe is the stock amp?

So upon removing the stock amp and the wires coming to/from that and the headunit, what new part of loom do I need for cars without the oem amp/sub in order to just plug my headunit straight in?

Basically I wanna get rid of all the stock stuff and start again with aftermarket but still need the connector which the headunit plugs to?

Hope this makes sense

Thanks.

There are two block connectors you require, one has the speaker wiring so 4x2pair and the other has the power and aerial, about 5-6 from memory. The connectors that go under the seat can be completely removed. You'll need to get an adaptor from somewhere like Halfords which will convert the OEM block to any new near unit connection.

I see what your saying I bought an autoleads connector I see in this thread - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?219189-By-passing-the-factory-amp

But where does this connect to the wires that go into the amp under the seat? Because with the amp unplugged the wires that the headunit were plugged into aren't connected to anything.

This was the bit that connected the amp to headunit. The headunit was powering its own speakers so the only wires I was using was, live, ground and ignition. None of the 2 connectors that come out the grey holder were used so I'm not sure what they're for.

Is the grey plastic holder now removed from the car? If so you should be left with 2 white connectors behind the stereo. These are the ones that connect to the ISO connector.

Yeah I have removed the whole loom in the picture which run down the passenger footwell under the seat and to the amp. There is nothing left above the transmission tunnel at all now no connectors or anything. Where should the connectors you mention come from? The only wires I have is under the passenger seat I think there is one white connector that plugged into the amp and joins the loom at the passenger side door sill.

Are you able to upload a photo of the existing dash wiring?

I don't think there is any wiring mate. The only thing there was the bit in the picture which was somehow wired to power the stereo. I'll get a picture anyway behind the stereo to see what's missing.

Think I've sussed it, I found 2 plugs connected to the big bundle of wires that come down from the dash, and my ISO connecter fits perfectly with these plugs. Why this wasn't used previously I don't know! So I should be able to leave the part of wiring in the first picture out altogether?
