Project: Ric's Gunmetal Carbon Ridox

I was planning to get the carbon sections clear wrapped by a professional, perhaps i could clear tape the arches myself though!

It's pretty easy to do to be honest with the wheels off, i made cardboard templates of my TRD kit then

cut out the shapes with a scalpel, only make one side then just turn it over to mirror image the other

Another option to protect the carbon would be to remove the clear coat, the carbon itself won't chip it's the laquer that does.

Off topic... Is that your Audi? V nice!

True, the body shop is removing as much lacquer/resin as they dare, as we all know it will eventually cloud, they are going to use some proper UV resistant lacquer on it, I love shiny/wet carbon look

Audi is the daily drive, cheers :)

Another update from the bodyshop, they've started the first part of filling for prepping the body.

Saying bye bye to 20 years of parking dint's and marks.

They also filled in the facelift markers on the front bumper which is on all the Ridox kits from Paul.

More to come soon.

A few more bits arriving for the car, i managed to find a aftermarket boss with cruise control.. err, control, i love how this works with the discreet buttons on the boss cover

As my heater controls are eventually going to be white, i made the decision to buy all new buttons so they are actually white and not yellow because of age.

I couldn't resist a little keyring for the supra keys

On a secondary note, LilAerotop turned up in his lovely supra to fit his black carpet i sorted out for him.

Coming along well Ric, another Ridox Aerotop, I take it your not getting the Auto Shine Carbon Add ons, as you've got carbon skirts an bumper?

i see you got the seals too, saved yourself nearly £200 getting them from America!

keep it up, mines taken 16 months an still isn't finished :/

I might go for the shine carbon defuser, not sure yet, i don't want to go overboard with the carbon, with the kit and the spoiler, perhaps the defuser i think that might be enough.

  • 2 weeks later...

Bit of a update:

I didn't want to spend all my available cash on a full interior strip and repaint i spoke with the body shop and decided on spraying the interior of the car black (to hide as much as the red as possible) without the full strip which would have added loads of money onto the spray job.

So with the body been prepared I received some progress shots of the interior which has been stripped/painted black and ready for re-assembly.

The engine bay will also be done to mask as much of the red as we can.

The bodyshop has been messed about by their glass specialist but hopefully he is coming this week to remove the windscreen and bootlid glass then the bodyshop will prime all the remaining red bits such as the door shuts etc ready for a final coat hopefully by the end of this week.

Looking to have it back from the bodyshop either on Friday or early next week barring any delays.

Big update for tonight as we go along, first bit of colour on the car, so excited :D I'm well happy with my choice... First some parts

ex1.JPG.81dc4b6b82f4ae59d2b5f95b75c9a965.JPG

Carbon exhaust surround, not sure how this will look with my colour but we will see.

dial1.JPG.711da3e2b4e777b32611e945c305d68e.JPG

Moman design dials, I've designed these to match some Defi gauges which i will eventually have.

roof2.JPG.42c03f515eeb2167492820cb5c7c7e96.JPG

I dyed my headlining, because of the short weave it doesn't go fully black, but it's a hell of a lot better than the light grey.

roof3.JPG.77bf253020f2d895f4a6470a08a0d664.JPG

I also painted the gubbings and plastics like the aerotop mountings and interior light

As the windscreen is still not out, the bodyshop is working around them, so starting with the door shuts and engine bay.

This is the first time I've seen my colour, i love it.
