ASM
Hey there guys I have recently incurred this battery drain problem with my supra rz mkiv tt 6 spd. If I leave the car unused for 3 or 4 days it kills my battery. Every time I want to start the car the first twist of the key is a blank clunk with a power draw! Second time it starts fine that's if the battery is strong enough. Another problem I've noticed is erratic behaviour of my active spoiler. When left on and I start the car it keeps going down and up a few times for a few seconds then stops. When I'm cruising and hit speeds of 100 kmh the check engine light and red warning lamp comes on!! If I switch it off and on again and drive with the active spoiler off it doesn't happen. Could you all please tell me what's going on with my car. It has 66k kms. All stock. For now I have 1 battery on spare at all times and keep swapping them. Getting frustrated. Help!! stevie_b
Starting problem: when you turn the key the 2nd time, does the engine crank over strongly? If it does, your battery's not at fault, it's probably the starter motor contacts. If the battery hasn't got enough juice in it to start the car the first time, it won't have enough for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc time either. Just a clunk with a draw of power as in dims all the lights. Second time it starts in one go....
stevie_b
Refurb your starter motor contacts. There's a guide on here on how to do it. Toyota sell the refurb kit, no need to buy a new starter motor.

If a Jspec then have you checked the speed limiter, may be worthwhile replacing the active spoiler controller.
