Noz
Having to swap over the flange to get the mk3 prop to fit. The position of the UJ is 5" too short apparently. Spoke to a couple people who have just swapped the flange without getting it balanced. My mechanic isn't happy with that idea. Any input, is it worth it? I know it can cause problems if out of balance, but with other people not having done it and not had any issues is this required.
Suprash
As far as I was aware, you had to chop the two props and get them welded/balanced. I havent ever heard about just swapping the flanges. I would go with your mechanic dude
mikefinan
you keep the mkiv rear section and fit the mk3 front section to it
listy
you keep the mkiv rear section and fit the mk3 front section to it This has always been my understanding of it. The NA prop should be two parts.
Noz
This has always been my understanding of it. The NA prop should be two parts. It says that everywhere on the internet. If it was true there why do I have a 3" gap between the shafts. I've the bits laid in front of me guys. You need to get a spacer between the two which is what I'm doing. Bar that, it's not a swap over fitment. I've been told the chaser prop might be the right length.

mikefinan
strange, mine went in fine without any fetteling, mkiv rear and mated to a mk3 front, then just bolted up......chaser prop will be to long this will need to be made shorter even with the chaser rear and mkiv front half is still to long..... as said i went mkiv reap prop mated to a mk3 front half... Noz
Off supraforums; Mr Ree NZ I have done this swap recently, and as mentioned above, the W58 and R154 have different splines. The front sections are a different length too so the easiest thing to do is find a yolk for the R154 and have the W58 front section shortened appropriately and then have the R154 yolk welded on, and finally balanced. Something doesn't fit right. I need the chaser r154 front prop I reckon. The mkiii is too short. Gonna have to use a spacer block and hold it goes strong until I've a custom one made! Noz
Another comment found; "I purchased a MKIII drive shaft to work with my Auto TT Rear end. This did not work and I had to have a drive shaft shop mate the yoke with my existing auto drive shaft. I have since been told that an NA MKIV 5 speed drive shaft will work, but I have not tried this myself." It doesn't. This needs to be common knowledge. Because I've followed peoples advice and they clearly had no idea WTF they were talking about. NO idea why people think it's a swap over. The chaser R154 must be different to the mk3.
