Brake caliper banjo screw thread rounded

Crash Bandicoot

Recommended Posts

Cars all ready for mot, so today was spent bleeding the brakes and clutch...

Found out that i need a new pipe made for the clutch which is being done,

When bleeding the driver side front caliper i found that where the banjo bolt is screwed into the caliper the thread has been removed...

The front calipers are not j spec or uk spec, they're different alltogether... 4 pots (can/will post photos shortly)

The caliper thread is tapered inside, the banjo bolt is not tapered :/ and uses copper washers.

Any idea what my best option is? Helicoil?

Or is it the dreaded case of finding some new/used front calipers? :(

Sounds odd to me mate:search:

I did once see a Supra with a huge block of a calliper on it which was like nothing I had seen before.

My brakes are off the Lexus and the Banjo fitted fine and I used Dowty seals to seal the circuit.

If the thread is pulled then Helicoil would be good if you can find the right thread (are you callipers steel or ally cast?). I have a set of Jspecs which will need a refirb (Been sat in the garage forever) but you can have them for free if you do get stuck.

Good luck:(

Which thread has been removed, the one on the bolt or the one on the caliper? Or are they both knackered now? If that isn't a UK spec caliper, that may be why their knackered; probably been cross threaded!
