Hi to you all.

Iv had my water pump and cambelt changed now and all is good in the coolent department but if due to coincidense im not sure i have a wierd whiring squeek when i tirn my steering wheel.

cant tell what it is though and its startin to bug me.

the steering works fine but its either coming from near the bottom by the rack or somewhere near cant quite tell.

Please voice opinions on what this may be or how to find out what it could be.

Thank you greatly for any help.

Rob, it'll be the power steering pump, check your fluid levels, as it will start to whine if it is low on hydraulic fluid. Don't drive it if the fluid is low as it will quickly damage the pump.

It could also be the pump that is on the way out, if it is knackered it will get louder and the steering will become heavier very quickly.

ok flushed with 4L of Castrol Dextron-III and it's still squeaking. I tried turning the wheel with the engine off (PAS off) and it does it then also.

Have just had car in the air and turned wheels and what not and now it seems to be okay. For now. I'm fairly sure it'll start doing it again shortly.. Any thoughts?

thanks

Where can you get Dextron III from then other than Toyota dealers?

Castron Dextron-III was bought from Halfords. £6.99/litre.

Also does it take 4l in total to fill the p.s. reservoir?

Dunno. I heard it was 4L, so that's what I flushed with. 4 litres went in but I didn't measure how much came out - it was a flush, not a top-up.
