Mgrene
Evening folks. I am unfortunately able to conclude that my Getrag gearbox is leaking oil, so now I am looking for the correct seals. Is there some kind of seal kit for this gearbox or is it only possible to purchase the bits separately? The oil is coming from the rear-end of the gearbox (around where the propshaft starts), and if I'm right, there are two seals in that area?. Any of you who knows which seals I should buy (part number). I have looked in the thread about V160 and parts but didn't find it helpful. So if one of you can point out which seals is mounted in this area marked with red, I would be very grateful. The spots marked with orange is where the oil is dripping. bignum
Its normally the selector seal that weeps, where the arm goes into the box(ooo errr) , then the oil drips down onto the prop area, most people fit the new seal in behind the original as trying to remove it can damage the arm. Chris Wilson
I have very low stock of the two possible culprits. the selector shaft seal and the propshaft flange seal. I sell a special selector shaft seal that means you do not have the nightmare of trying to remove the old one without scratching the selector shaft. If you scratch it, it will always leak. the new, thinner seal, is driven in on top of the old one, the old one is driven further into the casing. no, it won't go right through and fall into the box Gasket and seal prices below: TT and N/a gaskets and seals, assorted new old stock. Rear main bearing seals, (rear crank seals) nearly a 1/3 rd of Toyota price these will soon go. My price £18.98 plus VAT. Gear shaft selector seals for six speed manuals, a special seal that doesn't entail you performing the almost impossible task of getting the old seal out without scoring or scratching the selector shaft itself and making things 100 times worse. Just thoroughly clean with brake cleaner, tap the old seal in further, and put the new on in in front of it. A trick used on old BL cars with similar selector shaft issues. These special seals are £4.80 plus VAT each. Cam shaft seals, BIG SAVING ON LIST!! My price £8.80 each plus VAT. Now a few back in stock!!! Cam cover bolt sealing washers. £14 plus VAT a full set, two sets only left Gearbox rear seals, manual 6 speed only, just over 1/2 Toyota price, very few left. My price £19.82 plus VAT. 1 only auto box rear seal £18 plus VAT, big saving!! SOLD 3 pairs TT genuine Toyota multi shim turbo manifold to head gaskets, brand new £18 plus VAT the pair I am expecting some N/A engine gaskets next week. Maybe head gaskets, and intake / exhaust gaskets. Teflon coated valve stem seals sets, complete set, inlet and exhaust, race quality. New of course, only £68 plus VAT One only TT standard head gasket £72 plus VAT Postage can be by insured next day courier at £5.80 plus VAT, for any quantity, or at YOUR risk £2.80 plus VAT by normal mail. Head gaskets must go by courier, as they need special packing. I DO NOT have any oil pump seals left, sadly they have all gone.

It will also be a mechanic who is going to change mine. Just hope he understand when I say to him that no need to remove the old seal as the new one will fit on top of the existing one. Supra's are not a common car here in Denmark and it can be a pain to explain a mechanic how you want things done :-/

Just found out that the mechanic will charge me between £500-600 to change the two seals. He must be crazy. I have looked around on the Internet and it looks like both seals are rather easy to get access to, so I might give it a shot myself. Once again, thank you for the fast handling. Chris Wilson
How much?????!!!!! Pulling the propshaft flange off is the hard part, a suitable puller may be available off Ebay for about £15. I use a small universal puller. Apart from that, no special tools needed. I guess I would charge about £65 to change both. Thanks for your order, if I can help in the future I'd be very happy to do so.
