Swampy442
Check that punctuation and sentence structure, bro. What engine, GE/GTE

gdog1989
I had a similar issue like this before and mine was just where one of the fuses when checking them ended up in the wrong Hole as the one next to it was blank.....simple and easy mistake, when did it start happening? Tommyd16
This happened to me and it was the crank sensor. The plug is above the alternator. First thing is to check where the sensor is fitted that the bolt holding it on hasn't come lose. Then if that and the plug is good. You can disconnect the plug and cont check it with a multi meter. Should be something like 1000ish ohms iirc. Mine was open circuit. The new sensor was £114 fixed it straight away
jonny mac
crank sensor is the main one to check here, I'd be checking resistance and making sure it's within' tolerance of the factory spec without a signal from the crank sensor the ecu won't know when to send spark, you may also find (not 100% sure if a 2j is the same as a 1j) but one of the two cam sensor's may have an issue I had broken wiring on my rear cam sensor plug as the heat generated in that small space over the years made the wire go hard and snap, I was not getting fuel because of this, someone told me one cam sensor does fuel, one does spark, so it's also maybe worth trying those
Chris Wilson
They use two camshaft position sensors to make the ecu synchronize up faster and get a timing lock. This is why a good stock 2JZ-GTE will fire with the slightest amount of cranking. It's basically an emissions thing, less unburnt fuel emitted. One does not do fuel and one ignition! Guest chufts2jz
hi there thanks for all the help il have a good look this weekend and check the sensors. thanks loads:)
Si_s Supe
.'..'..?.,.'.,.'. You forgot these! Good luck with your fault finding though. I'd say Crank Sensor is the prime suspect!
Guest chufts2jz
hi there i checked the crank sensor this weekend and it was reading 1400 ohms is this correct any help would be great please. thanks
Chris Wilson
Yes, sounds sensible, but really you should now measure it at the disconnected ecu plug, to check the wiring integrity between plugs and sensor.
Guest chufts2jz
hi there i checked it by putting my tester onto the connector plug terminals that is connected to the sensor not the ecu wire side. do you mean for me to check the connection from the ecu loom side of the sensor. thanks
Chris Wilson
Yes, down in the passenger foot well, pull the ecu connector out and being careful not to open up the pin connectors, probe the plug and check continuity to the sensor there, as well. Guest chufts2jz
thats great thankyou very much il have a look and test it from there.
Chris Wilson
No problem, while you are down in the footwell, see if there are any capital letters and punctuation marks that have fallen in there, you are missing a few
