marc_p
Sounds to me like it's seriously over fuelling, is their any mods done to the engine or engine management?
Chris Wilson
Have you fitted an FCD or fiddled with an existing one? Serious over fuelling is what the symptoms sound like, do NOT run it until you are sure you have found the problem and fixed it.
Swampy442
It says NA in the title Chris, unless its an NA/T? Im saying ignition fault, distributer cap/arm/HT leads.
Scooter
Could the cat have broken down/be partial blocked? I'm not saying this is the underlying cause but could be why it won't rev?
SupraLEDrears
Oil in spark plug wells? Happened to me before.
MattP
Could the cat have broken down/be partial blocked? I'm not saying this is the underlying cause but could be why it won't rev? Indeed my old N/A MR2 did this
Chris Wilson
Could the cat have broken down/be partial blocked? I'm not saying this is the underlying cause but could be why it won't rev? I have never seen the metal substrate honeycomb break down in a MKIV cat,. very unlikely. What I have seen several times is an aftermarket back box break up internally and the wadding or perforated tube block most of the exhaust flow. A torch and a stick up it's backside may be educational.

Guest Joe marcon
Right my friend had a look and the dizzy was set well off . Thats sorted now . Still slow tho there is no exhaust note so in guessing something is blocked as its still holding back, it has a blitz nur spec cat back . There was ash coming out when it was flaming, yes I'meeting Allan on friday if I'm not working . The car does need a service. And brakes . Needs a fuel filter too
Al Massey
Yeah I'll be having a look on Friday when I'm free. Hopefully get the intake apart, check the plugs and leads and find the problem. Joe do you have axle stands? If not I'll bring mine and my tools and we will get this cracked
Guest Joe marcon
Yeh the car will be on axle stands when you get here . I'm in the process of taking manifold off and exhaust off.
