na-t conversion, whats needed? help and tips??

probably going to get some stick for bringing this up, i can imagine that this question has been raised many times before but i would like to get any new recent ideas or hints and tips that people have been using or different kits that are out there on offer.

i am on quite a tight budget with my build but i do want to do it right first time and not do it too cheaply that its going to break everytime i put my foot down or take a trip back home.

what im wanting to know is what kits (if people have used them) are out there at a decent price.

i have been in touch with garage whifbitz about there full na-t conversion and got a quote from paul there which was very good in my eyes but is a little out of my price range at the moment, i have also been scouring the internet for turbo kits and as people will know there is alot of crap out there.

the main ones i have found were:

suprastore in the states who seem to offer a rather good na-t kit for around £2000

xspower kits at around £2500-£3000

has anybody had experience with either of these? or does anyone know of a kit out there at around £2000??

any help would be great

cheers

jack

Having been there and done it, twice now (XS Power kit first time and just recently upgraded to the Whifbitz kit), I would say purchase yourself a second hand tried and tested kit with all the fettling already done. Don't forget to budget for things like fluids, engine management, mapping and a clutch as these all add up. Make sure you don't skimp on things like cheap oil lines and Chinese wastegate as they're a false economy long term.

cheers for the responses guys.

rich how you rate the xs-power kit? any good? i heard the turbos supplied dont last long but the site also sell a t61 t4 which i was thinking would be a good replacement.

its all very well priced and like i said im on abit of a budget.

i took into account a clutch and some sort of tuning, after looking on forums some guys were using the old apexi SAFC/neo controllers and tuning that way?

XS Power kit is fine, but if buying brand new expect it may have to be fettled as after all they are custom parts (Whifbitz kit required just as much fettling). Budget for a better wastegate than the XS Power item. My XS Power T4 turbo was brilliant and cheap to replace if it went pop!

I would keep your eye out for a second hand set up :)

Regards management.. I say Emanage Blue with our forum Trader Nodland to do the mapping.

what fettling would you say is normally needed? obviously custom fmic pipework is one.

just had a read through your build thread, very impressive i think it will come in handy when i build mine.

where would you say is the best place to look out for a second hand kit? i would imagine its rather rare to find a second hand kit is it?

as for the management i will follow that route then, i would rather it was done right and if its tried and tested then i will go with that.

to be honest though even on a budget you can build an na-t to be more power than that of a tt with bolt on mods and with the cost of buying a decent tt nowadays your probably better off going the na-t route (i myself am only looking for 350-400bhp on a single)

unfortunately i cant afford a tt but i have always wanted a supra and after having 300+bhp drift cars i cant really stick with the non turbo power of the 2jz lol realistically this is my only option for a moderately powered supra.
