Scott
I must admit, I was half expecting this lol. Wired everything in and hooked up the battery. Turned the key and all the warning lights come on, as you would expect, trouble is they don't go out...... Any ideas where I should start

Scott
Alternator. I wish mate, it's not getting that far. I can't actually get the car to start, or even remotely close to that position

Scott
I think I've narrowed it down ever so slightly. The aircon/heating fans aren't coming on. I'm guessing this is as good a place to start as any. Heater controls light up and function, but nothing happens.

Scott
Earths ? I don't think so, but I can't be sure. I'm pretty sure something is wired up either incorrectly or it's shorting. Everything works fine with the ignition at 1. Turn it to 2 and all the lights come on. Normally the heater/ac would work at this point but it doesn't (although it's illuminated). The motor works when selecting where to direct the air, just not the fan itself. Turn the key further, to start the car, and all the lights go out other than the dash lights (blue LED, not warning). Let it go and it's back to where it was. Turn the key back to 1 and the warning lights go out.

Scott
Error codes? I had thought about that, and I do have a spare 6spd ECU, but I thought the Syvecs would maybe store all the information I required. All I get is "Oil pressure" and "MAP pressure", which I'm guessing is normal till the car is actually started. Not really sure how to get in and about the software yet though. Will plug in the 6spd ECU tomorrow and see what I get.
Abz
Are you actually starting the car Scott? (This might sound like a silly question). Saw your reply to Graham, so that's a no then?!

Scott
Please tell me this isn't a thread to rival Ed's boot one? Na, it's not that much of a fail. In the passenger footwell I disconnected quite a few cables in order to hack the loom. I thought I had put all the relevant ones back in and that the 2 that were left were for an Auto or something else (as I couldn't see the female connections). The other night I couldn't get the radio to work, I was cracking up trying to figure out why, eventually had a good look in the footwell and found that there was a-n-other plug that I hadn't noticed that DID need to be plugged in.... plugged it in and bobs your auntie, radio working. Tonight, I was at it for hours trying to fault find. I had the alternator off, the starter motor off and everything in between. I've spent over an hour scouring the electrical manual trying to find the next spot to search. It was annoying me so much that I decided to go out and plug in the spare 6spd ECU that I had to see if I could get some MIL codes. Plugged it in, moved the useless plugs out of the way and had a go...... nothing. Not wanting to leave any stone unturned I got out my worklight and went into the passenger side effectively upside down so that I could see everything. At that moment I spotted a wee white female plug socket, very much resembling the white one that I thought was useless, with that stark realisation, and following a little cable management, I found the other offending socket. Plugged the 2 of them in and the dash started looking a LOT better. Connected up the starter motor, connected up the battery, turned the key........ and it turned over I'm calling it quits for tonight though. Hopefully get it started in the next week or
