HadeS
Hello everyone. I have recently fire up my freshly rebuild 1.5JZ and at low RPM there is some strange noise coming out of the engine. Does it sound familiar to any one? [video=youtube;-GbUjOkO45o] I'm going to have a look around the clutch and other parts as soon as I'm in the garage. Hopefully it's not something serious... pedrosixfour
Are you sure the timing is right? It looked like it was trying to reverse rotation at one stage while cranking.
Chris Wilson
Cam timing? What ecu? Is it the EXACT correct one to match the engine??!! If aftermarket it sounds like too much ignition advance. And that's NOT the way to set the idle, it should be under idle valve control, and the throttle stop set to give the correct TPS setting. I would find the issue before you run it any more, it sounds as if it's having a hard time
HadeS
Good to hear from you Chris. It's standalone ecu. I'll speak to my mapper about it. Thanks.
Chris Wilson
Any damage or looseness on the cam belt sprocket / trigger wheel bond? A loose trigger wheel could cause symptoms like that. I TIG weld the wheel to the sprocket nowadays, except VVTi ones which are one piece. Not sure how the 1JZ wheel is held together.
HadeS
Just spoke to my mapper. Timming is fine and ecu doesn't show any detonation. The engine was put together like 12 months ago so it might need to sattle down a bit? Will change an oil and take off the cam covers to see is the oil going all around the engine. HadeS
Been to see the mapper and the engine runs so sweet Need to do some magic as we are getting detonation at 0.5bar. Injectors first, then we will see.
