Engine Swap and MOT

I'm looking for a bit of advice on the above :

 

My MOT is due soon and I am planning on doing an engine swap soon, my issue is:

 

Should I let the MOT expire, swap the engine and then get MOT?

 

- or -

 

Should I get the MOT with the car as it is and then swap the engine out afterwards? If I go down the latter route, will I need to re-MOT the car once the new engine is in? I'd rather not have to do the MOT twice, if possible

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Personally I'd do the swap and then MOT the car so you get as long as possible on the ticket. You'll also know if there are likely to be any problems with emissions next time around.

An engine swap makes no differnce to the current MOT, and even if it did, the emissions test is based on whichever is older, chassis or engine, so a different engine doen't matter.

MOT it now if it will pass emissions, the least contact with bureaucracy the better. If you feel it's more chance of passing with the "new" engine wait until it's fitted.

Thanks for all of the advice! I'm quite sure that it will pass the MOT in its current state but I'll get it checked out to make sure. If all is good, I may as well do it now
