Engine Swap and MOT

I'm looking for a bit of advice on the above :search::

My MOT is due soon and I am planning on doing an engine swap soon, my issue is:

Should I let the MOT expire, swap the engine and then get MOT?

- or -

Should I get the MOT with the car as it is and then swap the engine out afterwards? If I go down the latter route, will I need to re-MOT the car once the new engine is in? I'd rather not have to do the MOT twice, if possible :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks
