Air valve on power steering pump...

I honestly had a clear picture in my head about how all this stuff went back together but since it's almost 2.5 years since I stripped it all apart I've become a little hazy.

I'm at the point now where I'm looking to cross my eyes and dot a few t's and this has me a little perplexed.

This little valve that connects to the bottom of the throttle body...

Firstly: Do I need it when in single or does it get ditched.

Secondly: If so what side do I connect the TB to? Does it matter?

Thirdly: Where does the other end go?

Cheers :)

Thanks to Martin I think we've sussed it out.

Air valve connects to the underside of the throttle body and the side of the intake manifold. I believe it controls the pressure of the pump during idling (or when not idling).

Just need to work out which way round it goes :)

You're correct on the pipes but pretty sure it makes no difference which way round it goes on the PS valve.

Good stuff, will soon find out anyway. Due to the way it operates I assumed as much but you never know :D

Is it really needed?

Not so much a necessity I guess, but as per the description below it may stall the engine.

I think it lifts the idle when the power steering sees pressure ie a load on the engine .

Turn the steering , load increases , valve opens , air bypasses the throttle and idle lifts to prevent stalling

I thought it was something like that, thanks for the description. Makes perfect sense :)

Think I'm going to remove mine and just rev the car to when steering and not moving

Trying to tidy everything

You could be rolling down a hill , on brake and clutch , turning in somewhere , now you must blip the throttle , rally style or the engine could stall - thus losing all power steering !!!

Tidy engine bay and smashed front end - oops

To be honest, there's not really a lot to see. 2 6mm silicone pipes is all it takes to have it in play.

Have you seen my build lol

I want a bare minimum in the engine bay

But I also see your point

Haven't spotted it, you should put it in your signature.

Are you going with an after market manifold and throttle body? You won't be able to see these pipes at all if you are. The only reason you can see mine is that it connects on the side of the manifold, the other one is hidden anyway. Oh, and they are red.... that kinda makes them obvious :D
