masterfett
Thought i would start a project thread more to document my progress than anything else, and if anyone else finds it interesting then thats a bonus. long story short. Moved to devon from Hampshire. Found a new Local. Opposite local a black stock looking Jspec TT auto was parked up. After some ear wigging i found out who owned it, started up conversation and turned out he was selling it as he has had a spine op and cant get in it very well along with no money to sort out a very bloody loud metal on metal graunchy sound coming from the engine area. he suspects big end but im not 100% sure on that yet - Thread to the video / problem is here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?305876-horrible-noise-(video)&p=3851110#post3851110 i picked it up cheap, i wont say how much exactly but under a grand, knowing that it may need major money thrown at it.. but i wanted a project anyway! Car came with "grenade" alloys which i will sell at some point, and also the stock jspec wheels, spare jspec turbos, a manual Diff and various other bits and pieces. plans are to switch over all the good bits from my red NA and then break it. I was debating doing a w58 conversion as i have all the parts on my red sup, but i think im going to stick with the auto until i can source a r154 as its already BPU and i dont think its worth my time switching it all just to blow the box. When she arrived. between changing the lights over to my UK spec. Instant improvement Parts / Plans list UK spec lights - got - Done UK Spec Brakes - Got - to do Fit new Wheels - Got - Done Carbon Hydro dip Lower front splitter - to do Seat delete - Got - To do Fix HORRIBLE sound problem - Done I know this is a bit brief now but i will update this with more progress pics later if it cheers up a bit outside. masterfett
Update on this: Sent my car to the capable hands of Paul at whifbitz. Turns out the reason my car was making such a horrible sound was due to the fact that the drive plate was being held on by only 1 Bolt! Bit of a mystery how it moved at all! Basically we think (Paul thinks) the reason for the damage was due to a un dampened crank pulley being fitted, the previous owner "apparently" ran it for 6 years. However i think he may be telling porkies. Either way whilst my car was at whifbitz i had the following done. CLEVITE ENGINE BEARING SET TOYOTA SUPRA OIL PUMP LARGE O-RING SMALL O-RING K&N OIL FILTER TOYOTA FRONT CRANK SEAL TOYOTA CAM COVER SEALS TOYOTA REAR CRANK SEAL CLEANER TOYOTA CRANK PULLEY GATES 2JZ CAMBELT 8 TOYOTA FLYWHEEL BOLT TOYOTA DRIVE PLATE TOYOTA SUPRA CRANKSHAFT TOYOTA AIR FILTER PIPE/CLIPS BLITZ LM AIR FILTER KIT COIL PACK BRACKET TOYOTA COIL PACK CLIP TOYOTA COIL PACK WIRE WHIFBITZ 2JZ COIL PACK SET 6 COIL PACK BRACKET BOLT FERREA 2JZ VALVE STEM SEALS TOYOTA CAMSHAFT SEAL TOYOTA POWER STEERING PIPE TURBO OIL DRAIN HOSES SUPRA TURBO INLET GASKET SUPRA TURBO OUTLET GASKET WHIFBITZ TURBO LINK PIPES - BLACK ARP MAIN STUD KIT ARP ROD BOLT KIT PCV VALVE SEAL CAM COVER BREATHER HOSES PCV BREATHER HOSE SILICON VACUUM HOSE TOYOTA BOV HOSE WHIFBITZ HEATER HOSES WHIFBITZ RESTRICTOR RING WHIFBITZ 1.3 BAR RAD CAP UK SPEC FRONT BRAKE DISCS UK SPEC FRONT BRAKE PADS WHIFBITZ STAGE 1 TURBOS TOYOTA MANIFOLD TO TURBO GASKET TURBO TO Y-PIPE GASKETS NEW RADIATOR WHIFBITZ 71 DEG THERMOSTAT + all the appropriate oils and fluids etc Just a start, but with everything above i would like to think that i have safe guarded against future faults! Next i have to get started on the paintwork, whilst it is in general good (for a 20 year old car) it definitely needs some TLC. After that its upping the boost
JackyBoi
Now that's how you give a Supra a make-over! If only every person who had just bought a Supra had all the basic/essential equipment changed then we'd be seeing a lot more on the road today. Can't wait to see what you're future plans are; I always love watching the progress of a Supra that was once practically a 'barn find'! Very true, but also very costly haha, Alot of people want big bhp, whereas i am attempting to make a "If toyota made a GT3 RS" Version of the supra. Sensible and reliable power hopefully Thanks for your kind words.
