millar11
My supra tt is booked in for service and MOT at my local Toyota garage on Thursday and I questioned the guy on the phone about changing all the fluids. (Transmission etc) I asked what they used but I didn't get much of a response. The question I want to know is who(if anyone) provides the garage with products they have purchased? Or will I just be best to let Toyota deal with it? Thanks Millar
Nic
Buy the fluids yourself and give the garage to use. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?56684-FAQ-Oil-Fluid-Interval-Capacity-Steering-Brake-Coolant-Diff-Engine&highlight=fluids
Josh
There was a story on here a while ago saying Toyota put coolant in the gearbox instead of gearbox oil. Hope they know what they're doing!
Dnk
I wouldn't be paying Toyota's rates to service your car unless their doing you a very good deal and not knowing what to put in it wouldn't inspire me in the slightest Have they given you a price yet Just the price for spark plugs is scary, you can buy Iridium for about £5-6 each and Toyota's i think were around £12 each
millar11
Yeah that's wot I was thinking nic. Jesus I hope not josh but stranger things have happened. Ha. Haven't got a price yet dunk but I do know the a guy there and he sorted me out last year. Got a full service including spark plugs etc, MOT'd and replaced a seat belt (was frayed) for £260? The seat belt was £50.
Nic
Go to http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ for fluids good prices and good service, I wouldn't bother with Toyota any decent local mechanic will be able to do a service for you.
millar11
Yeah it was more for service history and to stamp the book with Toyota? That's main reason I uses them last year. Think it's better just finding someone I trust?
