What new brakes ????

Hi all was looking to see what you all think; I am needing to change the brake disc and pads on my TT (Full BPU auto) it has got UK spec brakes on it. The car is manly used on the road with maybe 1 or 2 track days a year. Ok down to what i am thinking I am either going to put some Tar OX disc ( or something similar) with something like Red stuff pads. Or my preferred option a decent set of standard disc with a set of Carbon Lorient pads.

I would really appreciate your opinion on what I am thinking and any other suggestions that you might have

Thanks all

I only ever used o/e discs and pads and did a few track days and never had any problems, change the brake fluid

unless it's been done recently and check the brake lines too, braided lines would also be a plus

While the pads are out and caliper is off the disc i'd give them a good clean with a toothbrush

and brake cleaner so you can check the condition of the outer seals, most uk brakes are very old

now and unless they have been refurbed properly the outer seals could be on the verge of failing

which will cause the pistons to corrode and seize.

If you can get some carbon-ceramic brake pads then go for those. They're by far the best solution for track driving. Most don't need much more than a heavy stamp to wake up. I'd steer clear of Red Stuff pads like the plague, but that's just me :)

I am using carbon ones on my Clio and god are they good :)
