marbleapple
Apologies in advance to those who frequent the Technical section of the forum. No doubt many of you will cringe when you see I've started another new thread that makes little or no sense. By way of explanation...I don't understand cars. They are even more confusing than women. Of late my car has been having some little electrical oddities..... Background: I've owned the car a year and in that time the passenger window has never worked. I've replaced the passenger and drivers window switches, checked the connections and even checked the window lock button (in case I was dumb enough to have locked the window). Dead as a dodo. I assumed it was wire related. I planned to send it to an audio electrician when my new radio arrives to fix it all. A couple of weeks ago my clock in the car (digital) died. Just went blank like the power had gone. I bought a replacement from the forum which I have yet to fit. Recently: The battery went dead recently (cold weather + lack of use). Charged the battery and the car was fine bar window and clock. I decided to replace the connector that connects the positive lead to the battery with a brand new connector as the old one was bunged up and might not have been helping. After doing this I started the car and found that the digital clock was working again! Happy days! This evening, because the weather was nice, I tried to put the windows down. To my amazement the passenger window worked! I hadn't changed anything.... But to my confusion, the digital clock has stopped working at the same time the window started working. So.... Is there any way that my digital clock and the window could some how be linked? Is there anything to explain what's happened or are the clock and the window just chance occurrences? I'll also throw into the mix that my defi gauges are being a little odd/temperamental of late too which I wonder could some how be related. Look forward to the face palms..... Tommyd16
I would just start with simple stuff. Like you said you replaced the positive terminal, I would do the same for the earth and make sure the connections are nice and clean and tight. Check your fuses and earths to start with, then check connections are tight on plugs and wires are fully into plug connections before trying to chase wiring issues
