Guest Oldschoolrules
Hi All, I've got a NA-T with a T61, just had it mot'd etc so ready for summer!! Or not!!!! Basically after driving it for about 2-3 minutes and its warmed up it stops going past second and needs revving to about 4000 revs to go anywhere!!!! When I got it the fluid level was low so changed the filter and put new fluid in to the correct level. Any ideas as I thought it would be the box but local guy has said it sounds like torque converter!!! Any help would be much appreciated!! Swampy442
How did you fill it to the correct level? You know it should be done with the engine running?
Guest Oldschoolrules
Yea, ran the engine selected all gears then back to park, then checked the level!!!!!

Chris Wilson
Sounds like it could well be the converter, if a clutch pack or brake band was slipping the oil would very quickly become dirty brown / black and smell burnt. The none TT auto and manual boxes are plain NOT up to turbo torque, especially old ones. The TT auto box is a lot stronger internally. Guest Oldschoolrules
Hi Chris, Thanks for the help, will the twin turbo auto box fit into the normally aspirated car?? Presume theres more relays/solenoids??? Also is the TT converter stronger and will that also fit my flywheel???? Cheers mate
David P
Your questions will find answers here. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?groupid=
Chris Wilson
Physically it will fit, I would use the TT flex plate too, unless you check and it's the same part number as an N/A one. Electrical control will be different though, for sure. David P is the auto box guy, he's fiddled with these for years. I am no expert on them.
