JayJay1374
Hi all, been doing a standard engine rebuild, got the engine back in the car, all wired up etc. but wont start. the engine turns over fast and free, has fuel and spark. when turning over it shows no sign of life, not even a cough or splutter. the only thing i can think of is the crank sensor, the plate that sits on the bottom timing belt gear could be in the wrong position. any advice would be apreciated! thanks Jonny

mellonman
It must be timing the dude somewhere, I remember someone had a similar thing and when they done the timing belt they used the incorrectly timing line on the crank pully, have a check of that as well as the crank position sensor

Whitesupra95
Try spraying easy start in the intake and see if it runs.
Lee P
Try spraying easy start in the intake and see if it runs. I wouldn't try that if the timing is well out. Check the timing first, most likely it is out by a lot for it not to start. Also check the codes in the ecu Make sure map sensor and water temp are plugged in correctly and no broken wires Edited March 28, 2014 by Lee P (see edit history)
JayJay1374
All the timing markers line up correctly that's the odd thing. Gonna do some investigations this weekend

I had this issue when for some reason my ign feedback wire had broke, it would get one pulse then nothing.
